The trend was evident, but there wasnt anything physical to support it (I think).
 
I'll have to send this to my little brother. He's turning 50 this year and hasn't showed any signs of gay yet but you never know.
 
Lordy, when you consider past British history, I see a cause/effect aspect to this.

First son: inherits
Second son: goes into the military
Third son: goes into the clergy

Ok but it falls apart here: England wasnt Catholic and their clergy in general married.

What about in Ireland and Italy?

It's not a gene but there may be a genetic component that makes it more likely.

For years I've believed it was a protein or hormone in the mother but one that was triggered by stresses. And it's very inconsistent (hard to track) because those stresses would probably occur during a specific period during fetal development.
 
Btw, there are some biological reasons that been have discussed for decades on why homosexuals "exist" which this could also support.

They focus on the fact that a second male not focused on reproducing would do more to protect family members, thereby actually ensuring the survival of more of his gene pool than by his own reproducing (risky, requiring fighting, more hunting, more exhausting types of activities etc).
 


Who knows maybe someday they will be able to detect if an unborn child will be homosexual. I could see some homophobe Evangelicals (Moore) suddenly altering there views on abortion to accommodate there knuckle dragging views on the topic.

I’m the oldest sibling in my clan. I “had” two brothers (3 and 7 years younger than me) and a sister. The brother who was 3 years younger (now deceased for nearly 20 years), was gay. My youngest brother isn’t. And I might add, my gay brother was a brawler. He could kick King Kong’s ass if he put his mind to it. He also had a 150 IQ. Very smart. Unfortunately, he died of a heroine overdose.

Wonder if I need to call my youngest brother and tell him to go get a physical and if he likes the prostate exam then.... :shrug:

had it been, i would have used it to further torment my kid brother to no end
his being 61, with four kids, it's much too late, now

Haha that reminds me of a question a young gay man asked me. Why do so many older gay men have ex wives? Because we did what was expected of us. It took me until 45 to come out, best thing I ever did. In the 80's there were no gay role models, and homophobia was everywhere. Thank you President Obama, his repeal of DADT all0owed me to serve openly the last year of my military career, I even took my partner to the Unit Xmas Party lol. Now that raised a few eyebrows, not that I cared.

Mee too, i knew about the study in the 90s but i just dont think it was ever worded like the title here lol. I believe it was more like the more boys born to the same women the more likely one is gay. Which really is kind of meaningless with out further explanation because mathematically thats true anyway. But the additional reason dont have to do with percentages. The title while accurate is more an eye catcher than informative lol
 

I think you can stand down. I counted the "maybes and mights" so far they have inter-relationary numbers, but even then hedge the story by saying "there are many factors....."

Ergo its an interesting story. Period.
