Has California found the solution to trans athletes?

California recently changed rules regarding how trans and cis women are placed, essentially having two categories of placement.

Badically, cisgender girls, if beaten by a transgender girl, will place how they would have done if the trans girl wasn't competing.

So if the results are:
1st: trans
2nd: cis
3rd: cis

They will be classified:

Joint 1st: trans & cis who originally finished 2nd
2nd: cis who originally finished 3rd
3rd: cis who originally finished 4th

Under this system, no cis girl will lose a place or qualification to a trans girl while still allowing trans girls to compete.

This seems a workable solution for individual events, though not sure how it could be applied to team events, and of course safety in high impact sports still needs to be prioritised.

Born male, compete male. Or, create an entirely separate league/division for trans athletes.
 

Doesn't work. Women do not want to compete against men.

Sex protected spaces are not protected by creating separate but equal outcomes.

Democrats do love them some separate but equal though. They love repeating history.
 

What about the final champion/winner? Still split? (Possible of course.)
 

Why can't we just let sports governing bodies deal with the extremely rare trans athlete? What is this obsession with trans people?

What bathrooms and such do you think trans females have been using since the 1950s, or didn't you know that they exists before 2015? This entire controversy is manufactured nonsense to appear to socially conservative bigots in the GOP.

If you're going to allow males to compete in female sports, you need to deal with the biological realities in order to preserve fairness. You can't just bury your head in the sand.

This seems to be the best workaround I've seen so far.

Born female, compete female. Unless of course through hormone therapy they are not complying with the athletic standards of allowable substances. However, I've never had a problem with a female attempting to compete in a male division.

This wont end as you think it will. Trans guys are as strong as cisgender males. Texas also made trans guys compete as females and many went undefeated in all 4 years of high school. They are not doping with testosterone because they have a medical need for that substance and keep within cisgender limits.
 
Some "guys" may be but having worked with two in my field, which is very physical, they were not stronger than the average male. With that said, there is no perfect solution going one way or the other which is why I believe they should have their own division.
 
There are not enough trans people for their own sports leagues. That is an absurd idea. This was not even a problem w until the GOP manufactured one as a way to pander to ignorant bigots on the right. We need to stop manufacturing outrage and tell the bigots to pound sand because this is an issue that they still do not understand but somehow they are outraged about it.

So, you're saying we should turn over the entire youth and college sports institutions to accommodate a group that doesn't even have the numbers to start a division?

Their numbers are statistically irrelevant. they are not going to take over. Stop the fear mongering because 100 trans athletes play college sports. You make it sound like they are going to wipe out females when it is the opposite.

Enough with the fear mongering nonsense. Just because someone has a different opinion than yourself doesn't make them wrong. With having statistically irrelevant numbers as you put it, I don't believe society should have to turn themselves upside down to accommodate. Simple as that.
 
Did you happen to remember that transgender people have equal right to compete, despite their very small demographics? You want to do everything possible to erase them, but that idea is not legally permissible.

The SCOTUS has previously ruled that separate but equal is not constitutionally permissible.
 
They are allowed to compete, just not in the other gender. And don't forget that females have just as much right to not compete against males.

They are also free to choose how they want to live if they want to change themselves. But every choice has consequences and that does not mean that society has to change every rule to placate a group.
 

That sounds very similar to the homophobes' arguing against gay marriage. "As a man, you have the right to marry a woman." Doesn't matter to him if he's gay.

Bad analogy. Nobody has the right to marry anybody. You have to go to the courthouse and get permission things that are rights are permitted to do them without getting a license you don't need a license.

Like if I wanted to join a Christian group I don't need a license from the government that's right.

So he's proposing a separate but equal system where in which cis people are (presumptively) are going to get the awards whereas trans athletes get what exactly? What exactly are trans athletes supposed to get out of those system?

They get the awards, medals, places as well.

So if a transwoman finishes 1st, and a cis woman 2nd, they both place 1st and both get the gold medal.

As someone generally opposed to male puberty transwomen competing in female sport, this is a solution that I'm okay with. It allows those transwomen to compete competitively without cis women losing out.
 
It will never work. The trans community will insist its not fair because by implication of the rule, they are stating that men arent really women. Which is of course true...but...still.....
