Atheist turned JW...relevance to the topic begins at 2:17...

Hank Brian Marvin is an English multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter. He is widely known as the lead guitarist for The Shadows, a group which primarily performed instrumentals and was the backing band for Cliff Richard, and subsequently for Marvin, Welch & Farrar. Wikipedia

1. I congratulate him on being a proud Witness.

2. Because of a recent devastating loss in my life, I find that I can go on each day only if I pretend to myself that the spirits of two certain people are literally at my side guiding and helping me.

3. If the person in the OP believes in Witness doctrines, that's great for him.

4. I have noticed that Witnesses are always polite and well-dressed and very sincere. (I have read that those in Nazi concentration camps accepted their fate with perfect confidence in Jehovah.)

5. I was ripped off only once by a Witness. After I had asked for a copy of one of their magazines (probably "Awake"), she asked for a donation. That was definitely a no no. I was so astonished that I gave her a dollar.

6. Witnesses are very brave. They refuse, I believe, to fight in any war. And I think that they got our Supreme Court to say that a person does not have to pledge allegiance to the United States.

7. I understand that Witnesses are badly treated in many countries, such as Russia.

I am sorry for your pain...I would like to make it better for you but only Jehovah can do that...

Can we not just give all credit to God?
Can't we just say .............................................we're proud to be children of God?

What are we promoting? The Gospel...............................or, a religion?

You may wish to consider Raymond Franz in this discussion. He was a devout JEHOVAH Witness representative who later in life simply became a CHRISTIAN.
lol...I think you should...

CONCLUSION

I never stop wondering why Franz, who was an intelligent man, could turn around so completely that he viewed almost every doctrine and every practice among JW that he had defended for 40 years as myth. But this is what his two books show, particularly the book In Search for Christian Freedom, which is an all-out attack on Jehovah’s Witnesses.

What happened was that new religious viewpoints developed in the mind of Franz, and like Hymenaeus and Philetus, who denied that there would be a future resurrection, Franz denied that there would be a future earthly resurrection. The slogan of Franz of “letting the Scriptures speak for themselves” was one that he, himself, did not follow.

Franz argues that Christians do not need any organization or any set of laws, and one of his important points is that the understanding of the Bible should not be “funneled through some fallible human agency” (= Jehovah’s witnesses). But I have shown that it is not possible to just read the Bible and understand it. So whether we like it or not, our understanding of the Bible must be funneled through some fallible human agency. So the real issue that every sincere truth-seeker must consider is: Where can we find the fallible but true Bible teachers who can help us to understand the purpose of God?

STATEMENT OF BELIEF

As the editor of this webpage, I will state my belief and inform the reader of the following:

Is it any wonder Franz left the truth?

The basic reason for the turnaround of Franz was that he developed a new religion that was very different from the religion of JW, and he read and understood the Scriptures in the light of this new religion. Not only did he give a new interpretation to the Scriptures, but he also denied that parts of the Christian Greek Scriptures included laws for Christians. Thus he denied that the law of abstaining from blood in Acts 15:29 is valid for Christians.

Franz denied that there was a Christian organization in the first century CE, and he claims that every Christian is independent of all other Christians. I show that while there was no ongoing, sitting governing body in the first century, the Christian Greek Scriptures show that there was unity between all the Christian congregations. Each congregation had elders and ministerial servants, the members of the congregations came together at meetings, and some elders visited different congregations to build them up.

I totally believe that Raymond Franz came to the conclusion that the the Jehovah Witnesses were practicing LEGALISM and not Christianity in the truest sense of Salvation. He even came to an understanding of the TRINITY. The reality being that without JESUS or the HOLY SPIRIT, there can be NO SALVATION.

Yeah, that is not what the investigator in your link had to say about him...he started a new religion...lol...

If that be the case then the Jehovah Witnesses started a new religion by way of Charles Taze Russell ...lol...

“This is one notable aspect of Ray Franz’s legacy. He wanted folks to know what was going on. For good or bad, Ray put it out there for people to decide however they will.“

“Franz has shown a much better grasp and deeper appreciation for the Scriptures than many prominent members of the Bethel family. From what I have observed, most of the organization’s middle management are much more concerned with what the Watchtower magazine and headquarter policy says. For them, the Bible is just a big lump of Play-Dough to mold around the Watchtower’s teachings.”

“Franz left a profound legacy to many worldwide. Raymond Franz, a former Governing Body member of a religious organization, exposed it, and helped many break free of the bondage.”

“Ray’s heart was breaking over the fact that the Governing Body members were heartless and cruel, sticking to tradition and legalism, viewing ‘the friends’ problems in a cavalier way. “

You call yourselves Jehovah Witnesses and not Christ's Witnesses. And you declare Christ is Michael.
"Christ was also a witness for Jehovah and he was the firstborn of all creation...

"and from Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,” “the firstborn from the dead,” and “the Ruler of the kings of the earth.”

"the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God:" Revelation 3:14

CHRIST created everything. Colossians 1:16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

CHRIST is GOD because only GOD can create. Angels do not create.

Christ's power comes from God...without Jehovah, he cannot do a thing...

"the Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative" John 5:19

Nor does he seek his own will but God's...

"because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me." John 5:30

Jesus is not God but he is at God's side...

"No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is at the Father’s side is the one who has explained Him." John 1:18

Wow! I never would have guessed! Hank Marvin has history - he's an icon & legend.

You may be interested,

Dion Demucci, of Dion & The Belmonts, came back to Catholicism (via Evangelism) later in life, and wrote a book on it too! And it's a good one!

Remember, Dion gave up his seat to Ritchie Valens on the ill-fated flight that killed Ritchie, Buddy Holly, and the Big Bopper. Like Marvin, Dion was a part of the history of Rock & Roll from it's genesis. The Beatles even put him on the cover of Sgt. Pepper!

Christians maintain there is no scriptural evidence to equate Michael the archangel with the prehuman Christ. The Watchtower Society’s assertion that they are the same person is based on their incorrect assumptions about Christ’s creation and misinterpretations of Daniel 10 and 12, Jude 9, and 1 Thessalonians 4:16, none of which identify Michael as Christ. Also, Christians contend that Christ was not merely a created being, but eternally preexistent as God the Son with the Father. He was indeed the Creator, with the Father and the Spirit, of all things (see John 1:1-14; Phil. 2:5-11; Col. 1:15-20; Rev. 3:14).

Jesus’ Divinity

The Watchtower Society denies the deity and eternal preexistence of Jesus Christ. This contrasts sharply with historic Christian beliefs that Jesus was God the Son, the second member of the eternal Trinity.

The Watchtower Society’s position is similar to the fourth century Arian heresy, universally rejected by Christian churches at the Council of Nicea in A.D. 325. The Watchtower Society has made a number of interpretative errors and translation changes to conform Scripture to their presuppositions. For example, the Watchtower Society’s Bible, The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (NWT), translates John 1:1: “In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.”

The Watchtower Society asserts that since the Greek language has no indefinite articles (a or an), the article can be used where needed in translating; thus they insert “a” before god to emphasize the Word’s (Christ’s) inferiority to God. This biased rendering cannot be justified grammatically and has been rejected by every reputable Greek scholar.

The Watchtower Society errs in its interpretation of Colossians 1:15-20. They interpret the word “firstborn” in verse 15 to mean “first-created.” However, the firstborn (prototokos) principle in Hebrew culture refers to privilege and superiority, not to priority in time. Also, the Watchtower Society has presumptuously added to its translation of verses 16-20 by parenthetically inserting “other” in several places where no word appears in the Greek text. This unwarranted addition is made so the text will conform to the Watchtower Society’s theological position on Christ.

“Because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist” (Col. 1:16-17, NWT).

We follow Jesus Christ...
Did Jesus Christ teach that "Little babies are the enemies of God" which is what Stephen Lett, member of the Governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses, teaches/preaches?

Everything we do must be for the glory of GOD.
Not glory for an organization or denomination we belong to.

He was attracted to JW because they use the name, and because they don't have paid preachers, although they do have the elders who lay down the scriptures.

So in other words, it's all about labels. Brilliant stuff.
