Gun control groups on video opposing tougher laws

2024 VA SB203 was a bill to increase the mandatory minimum sentence from 5 years to 10 for people convicted of committing violent crimes. It only applies to repeat offenders who use firearms to commit these violent acts.

Moms Demand Action and Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence opposed it during hearings.

Why?

Because gun control groups are not about ensuring public safety. They are about violating people’s civil rights.

They want to be able to put people in prison for 5-10 years for owning an 11-round pistol magazine, or putting a pistol grip on a semiautomatic rifle, but not for repeated violent firearm offenses.

It's beyond hilarious. These are the same idiots who wring their hands about the Supreme Court ruling that you can't use an ex-parte domestic violence restraining order to deny gun rights to a guy who committed multiple violent felonies with a firearm (instead of prosecuting and convicting him of those same felonies, to the same end).

They were right about one thing: certainty of punishment is a big factor.....and they're the ones making it almost certain that there IS no real punishment for violent crimes.

Supporters of gun control want the government to have a monopoly on power. It is as simple as that. They believe that they are in the right and everyone else should have to live by their values.

The people who own semiautomatic rifles with pistol grips are viewed as being political enemies, even disregarding the gun control question. Therefore, harassing regulations are directed at them.

So far all you've been able to come up with is that they want the state to have a monopoly on violence. For not apparant reason.
