Ground beef prices across the U.S. continue to reach new highs, driven by shrinking cattle herds, with looming import restrictions threatening to push costs even higher. According to government data released last week, the average price of a pound of 100 percent ground beef rose to $6.12 last month, up from $5.98 in May and $5.47 in June 2024. Experts have said this trend shows no signs of slowing, meaning there may be upward pressure on prices through 2026 and beyond. The rising cost of staple agricultural products such as beef and eggs has further strained household budgets in 2025, as well as the budgets of businesses reliant on the sales of these items. In addition to having an outsize effect on inflation data, summer price increases are hitting during the peak months—when beef sales traditionally peak because of outdoor gatherings—further underscoring the growing issue.
The prospect of new tariffs on countries the U.S. sources beef from also threatens to further raise prices in the U.S. Per the USDA, most of the U.S.'s beef imports come from Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and New Zealand. Canada and Mexico were two of the first nations to be subject to President Donald Trump's tariffs, which have been ramped up in recent days. Barring a major breakthrough in trade negotiations, they will likely see their beef subject to rates of upwards of 25 percent. Brazil, meanwhile, was recently threatened with a blanket 50 percent tariff.
If you don’t have 14 cents to your name then you have bigger problems than the price of ground beef.
People will go to the restaurant and pay $18.00 for a burger but they can't afford a few cents more for ground beef.If you don’t have 14 cents to your name then you have bigger problems than the price of ground beef.
Speak for yourself.Indeed. Like Trump stripping your access to Medicaid.
Definitely not! He should stop lying constantly. That would be a start. What do you want Trump to do, start raising cattle?
Liberals have believed lies for years, how would you even know what the truth looks like?Definitely not! He should stop lying constantly. That would be a start.
He should teach American farmers to grow sugar cane, too. What do you want Trump to do, start raising cattle?
I know these were lies.Liberals have believed lies for years, how would you even know what the truth looks like?
I don't agree with your spin.I know these weren't the truth
-2020 election was stolen
-Covid is like the flu and it will disappear
-There was no contact between Russia and the Trump campaign during the 2016 campaign
-Mexico will pay for the wall.
Do you agree?
Stick with me.I don't agree with your spin.
Impressive but probably not a record for Trump.Trump: "If elected I will lower grocery prices, lower gas prices, and end the Ukraine War on Day One."
Three Trump lies in one sentence.
Could have, but your idea of his speak is not always the right meaning,Stick with me.
Did Trump say any of those things?
hahahahahahahahaIf you don’t have 14 cents to your name then you have bigger problems than the price of ground beef.
Wondering how many beef critters have been born and brought to market since January 20th? How much of the feed given was raised since then?Ground beef prices reach record highs as warning issued
As the country continues to grapple with shrinking herds, experts say prices could continue to rise through 2025 and beyond.www.newsweek.com
IIRC, at each of his 2024 election campaign stops, Trump promised to bring down grocery prices. He has not delivered. They continuie to climb. Contributing greatly to the problem is Trump's reckless tariffs on food items the USA imports.
Trump now says bringing down grocery prices, as he promised, will be 'very hard'
President-elect Donald Trump campaigned relentlessly on grocery prices in the 2024 race. Now, he says lowering costs will be "very hard."abcnews.go.com
Dumbest post of thePeople will go to the restaurant and pay $18.00 for a burger but they can't afford a few cents more for ground beef.
What do you want Trump to do, start raising cattle?
How come that's the Republican answer to every concern Americans have? "Too bad, learn to code"If you don’t have 14 cents to your name then you have bigger problems than the price of ground beef.
"If yew cain't afford higher prices then yew's a kommanyst. MAGA!"hahahahahahahaha
The right has stopped even pretending to care about anything. Inflation, debts, Epstein's human trafficking ring.
Your idea of a sentence, ditto.Could have, but your idea of his speak is not always the right meaning,
It was the same thing in 2016, they claimed it was "economic anxiety" over a good economy. They just love the racism. Maga hates this country.hahahahahahahaha
