Greenland forms new unity government on eve of JD Vance visit​


Because Greenland is important now. The government consist of four of the five parties in the Greenlandic legislature. It will be led by Demokraatit, the party that won the election, and consist all parties except the radical pro independence populists Naleraq (that withdrew from coalition talks because other parties favored a slower path to independence), Naleraq came second in the recent elections. This government will control 23 of the 31 seats in the legislature.
 
Vance and his wife have blinked. They're now only going to visit a US base on the country.
 
Can America just offer to pay every citizen of Greenland a million dollars to become the 51st state ?

Sure we can. We can cut medicaid, cut SS, cut funding for all our entitlements to fund this newest Trump pipedream. We can send the checks, watch the Greenlanders cash our bribes, and still get nothing concrete in return.

If we could actually acquire Greenland for a million dollars per resident, that would be well worth it. Trump would finally have an actual major accomplishment to his name if he pulled that off.

Not that it will happen.

Its not a major accomplishment unless the majority of Greenlanders are somehow convinced to support it. Otherwise we won't gain squat beyond a very hostile and rebellious population intent to obstruct, defy, and negate whatever we intended to accomplish with our money. We will have a very expensive problem to solve long after after we spend that million per resident investment. .

Well the idea would be Trump proposes they have a vote for independence and if they do vote for independence he will make the offer

Lol that's your idea. Have you learned much about what Trump is willing to define as a 'fair election result' worthy of his and his govt's recognition and respect? he does not take 'no' for a a real electoral rejection of his wishes.

If they become independence, they keep their independence for 5 minute, then Trump occupies the island and proclaim it his. They know this.
