Queen Latifah will officiate at the nuptials, with pop diva Madonna performing the song with the hip hop duo and featured vocalist Mary Lambert, the Times said.
Lewis said that the weddings, including 34 couples of various ages and races, some gay, some straight, "will be in our minds the ultimate statement of equality, that all the couples are entitled to the same exact thing," the report said.
I just really, REALLY want to see Metallica perform tonight.
This year the producers are using their super-powers for good and forcing The Beatles to reunite, making Metallica play with Lang Lang, Sara Bareilles to croon alongside Carole King and Robin Thicke to take his rightful place alongside Chicago.

Wow thats interesting, I probably wasnt going to watch and just catch the clips later but i might have to tune in for this part.
Such a great thing, seems so nice. Its great some many people are standing up for equal rights and showing what civility, freedom, rights and caring for your fellow americans is all about.
I'm a vehement supporter of SSM but this seems really weird and gaudy. Marriage is supposed to be a solemn commitment between people, not a publicity piece for an awards show. I also find mass marriage to be really culty personally.

You cannot possibly support “same sex marriage”, and still hold any respect for what marriage is truly about.
No surprise that the same bunch who supports degrading the concept of marriage, by putting forth such a sick mockery as “same sex marriage”, would also treat marriage as a cheap publicity stunt.

its reassuring that america is doing the right thingI love that equal rights makes you so upset
any facts to back up this claim?

I don't really care as I find all awards show semi-ridiculous...but marriage on a music awards show?
Whatever the American masses want I guess.
What's next...marriage consummations? First arguments? First child births? Live divorce finalization?
Again they were already married. It was not a marriage ceremony. It was just a celebration of marriage in all forms and a way to inform the public that the music industry is firmly in favor of SSM too. Its a new world that some will just have to get used too.
I don't much care if people were marrying table lamps (I am for SSM, btw)...like I said, whatever the masses want.
As long as no one gets hurt...knock yourselves out.
But still seems a bit goofy to me. Marriages on a music awards show.
Whatever.
I agree it seemed goofy but it shows how important SSM is to many in the industry and that it is here to stay. There is no doubt that that was the reason for including it.
I would agree except they were all already married, the ceremony was just renewal of their vows. Not at all the same as a mass marriage.

For the love of christ, why must EVERYTHING become political. Could it be at all possible to imagine an award show about Music being simply about...oh I don't know...music.
I don't care what the political stance is, sometimes It'd just be nice to have things in life to enjoy that isn't trying to make a socio-political message.
Well I remember the days when you could tune in to MTV and actually see videos. Those days are long gone my friend. These cultural elites just have to be heard as everyone knows they're all so much more enlightened than the rest of us.
P.S. I haven't watched an awards ceremony in decades.
