Gowdy asks Clinton to turn over email server for review
By MATTHEW DALY
Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The chairman of a House committee investigating the deadly 2012 attacks in Benghazi formally requested Friday that Hillary Rodham Clinton turn over her email server for an independent review.
Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., sent a letter requesting that Clinton, a likely Democratic presidential candidate, turn over to the State Department inspector general or other third party the server she used for official business while serving as secretary of state. The aim would be to have a third party determine what records should be made public.
"Though Secretary Clinton alone is responsible for causing this issue, she alone does not get to determine its outcome," Gowdy said in a statement. His request to turn over the server is "in the interest of transparency for the American people," Gowdy said.
Clinton has pledged that all her work-related email will be made public but has acknowledged deleting thousands of messages related to personal matters. Clinton has said the server "will remain private."

A Clinton spokesman said Friday that when all her work emails are released, "it will offer an unprecedented opportunity for the American people to see for themselves that they are all there and then some."
(3:10 p.m.): Pressed on whether Clinton turned over all of the relevant emails to the State Department, Clinton claimed she did more than what was asked and only personal communications were excluded.

Now I'm confused.
But Hillary claimed, over a week ago, that all of her work-related emails HAVE BEEN turned over.
So which is it? Have all the emails been turned over? Or, are there still more that need to be turned over?
Mycroft, that's just Hillary being transparent. Better get used to it, if she becomes president. It'll be a continual diet of the stuff.
All the more reason that this particular inquiry needs to be vigorously pursued to the logical conclusion, which, in my mind anyway, the turning over of the private server, in tact, for forensic examination by an impartial 3rd party for review and report of the emails that have been deleted, and that haven't been deleted.
Yeah...Hillary must be forced to come clean. That's the only way this double-talking BS that she and the Obama administration can be laid to rest.
But I wonder if there are any Hillary-supporting forum members out there who can tell me...have they all been turned over or haven't they all been turned over?
If she has to turn over emails then ever single congressman/congresswoman/federal government employee who has ever used a private email account before H.R. 1233 was signed into law should as well.
And I know.... You cant make someone do something when the action many disagree with was perfectly legal... Hell I think she should be forced to turn over her emails, and I think many other should be forced to as well to the national archives.... But I wont sit here and say "ohhh she has to because of the law!", when clearly she doesn't, because the law wasnt in place.I agree.
But, it appears that Hillary doesn't agree.
**** no I am not a Hillary supporter.Anyway, are you a Hillary supporter? Can you help me by clearing up my confusion?

I must say, I expected this to happen at the beginning of the week, but better late than never. It will be interesting to see what results from this.

She could have also used an encrypted server and no one will probably ever find the "deleted" emails.

The Congressional special committee investigating the Benghazi attack say there are huge gaps in Clinton released emails during her tenure as SoS. For example, there are no emails at all during her 2011 trip to Libya to confer with Libyan officials. None at all? Even for the most charitable, this is difficult to believe.

Trey Gowdy has been requesting information for months from the State, it's an unfortunate turn of events that he had to go this route but he had no choice if they were unwilling to give him all the requested material in a timely fashion. As written in this thread huge gaps in her correspondence - why?
It would seem quite clear that she has something to hide. Also, every politician would fight such an order. I'd like to see the missing Bush era e-mails as well. I hope Gowdy gets what he's looking for.

Except she DOES have to...BECAUSE of the law.
Sure, she was allowed to use an email account other than the .gov account, but per the law she was required to return everything to the government. She didn't do that. She violated the law. Two years later, when asked, she returns some emails and says she separated hers from the government's. She is not allowed to decide what is hers and what belongs to the government. Again, she violated the law.
Those are her obvious criminal actions. There are other laws she MIGHT have broken...but we won't know if she did UNTIL we find out what is on her server and what she deleted from her server.
So don't make this sound like Hillary is doing everything the right way. She's not. She is deliberately violating the law of the US.
Naturally you would want to deflect to wanting to see Bush Emails. Its par for the course.
When have you said you wanted to see Hillary's Emails over Benghazi and Libya? What about BO peeps who acknowledges he was emailing Hillary? But can't recall if it said dot gov or just Hillary shootin the ****. Don't you want to see his too?
No, I want to see BOTH. The hypocritical partisans only want to see the democrats missing e-mails. I'm no longer surprised though. It's a daily barrage of hypocrisy and mud slinging against one party, while the trash that also exists in the other party is dismissed, covered up or ignored. Pathetic. And insurance that we'll have more of the same.
Yeah yeah, the hypocritcal partisans  against the US Hating American that can never stick up for what his country has done even when in the Right. EA Sports its in the game.....Right Monte?
Your criticizing me for sticking up for Obama's lead in the Iranian talks and simultaneously accusing me of not sticking up for America, lol. I don't think you know what time it is.
