Tragically, I think I'm sick of the high road crap. This is a fight for survival of something like the republic. And as a student of history, I'm perfectly well aware that throwing out the high road to win can set up unforeseen future awfulness.

But in this case, there's definite future awfulness that is probably worse than what happens if the Democrats get used to fighting fire with fire.



There will be 'both sides' bullshit from MAGA turds, but the fact is that the moves in TX - soon to be followed elsewhere - are well beyond any both sides gerrymandering. They do it, it's time to go all in. Let the chips fall where they may.

We're either doing that later or folding all along.
 
Gavin Newsome is top of the roster with 7, Elissa Slotkin has 5, Mitch Landrieu has 17.

This noise isn't about service to nor representation for people. It is about two behemoth political parties jousting for dominance.

...and likely chase more people out of their respective parties. I can't imagine people want more of the kind of absurd circus Trump's already brought, but then again, it seems some enjoy the entertainment.

Blue states need to follow this lead, and gerrymander the GOP out of contention in their states. It has to happen or we will never be a factor in national politics.

Here's a tip. Both states in playing the game may actually make some to many of their districts more competitive.

July polling by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee certainly suggests Democratic Party escalation is unwarranted. So yeah, doing nothing (except maybe building up campaign war chests) would be the better approach. Also posted to another thread:

ANY GERRYMANDER EFFORT WILL ONLY INCREASE NUMBER OF VULNERABLE REPUBLICANS, IN BOTH PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS In an environment where Democrats are consistently overperforming in special elections across the country and with public opinion turning against the Republican trifecta, re-drawing the Texas map is a dangerous proposition for House Republicans. Between 2016 and 2018, competitive congressional districts in Texas moved 7 points in Democrats’ favor. Given the political winds and favorable environment we anticipate, similar to the first Trump midterms in 2018, we can expect a similar shift. Any new map Texas Republicans draw will almost certainly increase the number of competitive districts, thereby endangering more congressional Republican incumbents.
