The Prime Minister admitted the centuries-old laws, which give men a greater claim to the throne than their older sisters and prevent those in the line of succession from marrying Catholics, are a source of controversy.
But he said the public expects such prejudice to be removed in the 21st century, and insisted the historic moves would not affect the position of the monarchy or lead to the disestablishment of the Church of England.
Nice to see a move to reverse the anti-Catholic bigotry that has been rife in English-speaking countries for centuries.
If Camilla is a Catholic; I'll cry in my pillow. The Witch can sit on the throne now?
Brown has bigger issues than a stupid law ... leave it be
Camillia is a whore who bumped uglies with a married monarch. If she sits on the thrown, England will be disgraced.
I'd sooner vote for a republic than allow her on the throne with the title Queen. Abdicate, Charles. Abdicate.
No one wants you or your ugly whore on the throne
I have heard that Charles has been repeatedly been asked to step aside and allow William to assume the thrown.

So, it is ok to leave in place an outdated, BIGOTED law? It needs to go.
Not good enough?
Patience
I'm sorry Ludahai, but priorities.
Catholics can wait until the PM is not so busy with this downturn can they not? They have waited hundreds of years no?
And i must say, i want this abolished after William is on the throne.
Meh, Kate Middleton is okay I suppose. Prince Philip will have a fit coz shes a commoner lol lol. Don't think it will last.
Look on the brightside, if/when Prince charles is King he can't give his crappy opinions out in public, the monarch is forbidden to, lest that undermine the democratic system.
Also, you should note it ONLY applies to Catholics. Were William to marry a Muslim, that would be ok - but a Catholic, and he would lose his right to inherit the throne. That is bigoted.
A muslim will never sit on the throne.
Anyone who is not Protestant will not sit on the throne.
Anyone who is not part of the elite club will not sit on the throne.
Anyone who is Non white etc ...
Common knowledge
But you can't even MARRY a Catholic and sit on the throne. Lest we remember that Henry VIII formed his own church was so he could get an annulment? The English-speaking world has been bigoted against Catholics for centuries. While this wouldn't end it, it would be a very important symbolic statement that such bigoty is waning.
I think it's time England had a black queen.link

What bigotry inside England? We have little against Catholics.
Well i happen to think Henry unbeknown to him did something great. The catholic church was too powerful

I nominate me.
I promise to serve United Kingdom and it's commonwealth faithfully
And extend diplomatic recognition to Somaliland.
Opps, only the PM can do that.
Let's see a pic, if you don't look at least as good as her, then you are denied, sorry. :2razz:I nominate me.
