Trump getting some push back from his own party for a mega (MAGA?) rant & typical Trump pressure aimed at Sen. Grassley.

Republican senators were appalled by President Trump’s rough treatment of 91-year-old Sen. Chuck Grassley (Iowa), the Senate’s most senior Republican, on social media and are pushing back on Trump’s attempts to squeeze the senator into abolishing an arcane procedure known as the Senate blue slip.

And Thom Tillis says it best:

“I think it was a bad — No. 1, Chuck is beloved in our conference. No. 2, the blue-slip policy helps the president. He’s got staff giving him bad advice,” Tillis said.

Until they start actually voting against his interests in meaningful numbers - and not then immediately announcing they aren't running again - it only means soooo much.

Like Collins's concern and Murkowski's "shock" at betrayal.

These people…. Are so damn selfish they never act unless it directly impacts them.

Somehow im not sure if Olympia Snowe would have been this cowardly.

Pretty tame rant by Trump standards. Tillis, Collins and Murkowski have been on the recieving end of worse. If Grassly cares about his legacy he will bend.

Yep - I'll be impressed when it translates into a critical mass of Republicans actually standing up to Taco's demands with their votes and not just their tweets.

Grassley’s legacy is his apparent willingness to participate in the 2020-2021 autogolpe.

Thank you Mike Pence for showing up.

Yes, there was a successful "autogolpe" 2020-2021 capped off by Pence. Grassley didn't play a roll though the blue slips are protecting those who did.

Your gibberish is acknowledged.

Grassley's legacy will be as an example of Congressional members staying in their office way beyond their prime. Regardless of his achievements, people will just remember he was that really old Senator.

Colllins so badly want to be Olympia Snowe, and she just can't ****ing do it.
I hope Dems in my state put up someone who can actually take this bitch out to pasture. I would love to hear her retirement speech and then watch her sashay back to the County, never to return.

I hope to be as active and sharp in my 90's. There are some much younger who have served beyond their expiration. Grassley is just wrong on this. It is not his age.

Yeah, Grassley is really sharp. Hopefully he is an example for the GOP to follow. Young people love Senators in their 90s.

Pay attention the next time he's attempting to read something important. His time has come and gone. The man can't read any more. Sure, he's a respected old man in congress. But he's no longer an effective legislator.

Young people do love MAGA; it is older baby boomers who are moving left. Maybe Grassley can inspire the right stuff.

As somebody who has paid attention to Grassley for decades, like I have with him being a Senator from the state in which I live, the power and age has rotted his brain. He used to have more of a democratic compass, but in recent years, he’s just lazily followed and led Republican interests without any conscience.

He laughs off those who disagree with him now and has an utter disregard for anyone on the left. He didn’t used to be like that, at all. Grassley has stuck around for too long, and now hopefully he gets to watch as any dignity he had remaining circles the drain. Just another spineless member of Congress.

Maybe all the GOP Senators can come up with one spine between them.
