Yeah, that was really hard to predict...

"The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the parent, who remains unidentified for privacy reasons, submitted their challenge on Dec. 11 along with an eight-page list of passages from the Bible that they found to be offensive and worth reviewing.

“Incest, onanism, bestiality, prostitution, genital mutilation, fellatio, dildos, rape, and even infanticide,” the parent wrote in their request. “You’ll no doubt find that the Bible, under Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-1227, has ‘no serious values for minors’ because it’s pornographic by our new definition.”

“Get this PORN out of our schools,” the parent wrote. “If the books that have been banned so far are any indication for way lesser offenses, this should be a slam dunk.”

I wonder how the state will handle this 'challenge' without appearing 100% hypocritical? If that stuff is indeed in the bible which I'm guessing it is, why would it be ok in that book but no others?

As a general rule, I oppose banning books.....but....HA-HA- HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!
I'll bet Representative Ivory didn't see THIS sort of response to his law coming.
Too funny.

Always love a bit of turnabout!

I bet this triggers an epiphany or two amongst the dum-dums, though they are poorly equipped to gain from it.

As Rep Ivory said.

There was a purpose to the bill and this kind of stuff, it’s very unfortunate,” he said. “There are any number of studies that directly link sexualization and hyper-sexualization with sexual exploitation and abuse. Certainly, those are things we don’t want in schools.”

Ummmm didn’t the Mormon Church just have a huge child sex abuse scandal?

Their lives are so compartmentalized that they will never see the hypocrisy forcing the Bible into schools and forcing the The Handmaid's Tale out as they simultaneously attempt to control women's reproductive lives.

The Utah parent is right.
If the legislation is targeting other books for banning then by those same standards the bible should be included.
It is utterly rational. No way around it.
