Always good to hear those Republicans who are still accepting reality and seeing things clearly. I agree with all former Republican Senator John Danforth says here. 8min. video and transcript in link.
John Danforth, a former Republican senator, garnered attention last month when he denounced Sen. Josh Hawley's role in the Capitol attacks and expressed regret over his previous support for the Missouri lawmaker. He joins Judy Woodruff to discuss his views on the modern-day Republican Party, former President Trump's impeachment, and the impact of questioning the legitimacy of the election.

Why is it that all these FORMER Republicans manage to find their spines only after leaving office?

As an example of their cowardice, look no further than the SECRET ballot they took regarding Liz Cheney.

Yup, they let the crazies and the fundies in, and they destroyed everything.

There are plenty of examples of this, but Danforth hasn't been in the Senate for more than a quarter century. Things weren't really like this back in the mid 90s.

Danforth quotes:

“America needs a strong, responsible conservative party.”

“a grotesque caricature of what the Republican Party has traditionally been.”

“we're going to return to the Republican Party that is a responsible party, that is a conservative party, and that is a party of — that is capable of being a national party again, which it is not now.”

“I'm a Republican.”

“And I believe in the Republican Party, as it has been. I believe in the party of Lincoln.”

Not a single quote of Danforth is measurable. Nothing substantive. A gross caricature of what? What has the Rep party “traditionally been”? The fact is, the Rep party show how and when it has ever been whatever it “is” or “stands for”, that is measurable, for many decades. Reps can’t prove they do better than Dems in all major categories that Reps say they stand for. “Small govt”, business, employment, the economy…

They lack character, patriotism and are selfish. They are afraid, very afraid of their own Trump Klan Party, that's either hilarious, pathetic or both.

Good points there, thanks for your input.
