And how will he do it you say?

By increasing your taxes with tariffs!

The one way to game the system is to not buy anything made in other countries. That will mean you will have a much more limited selection of goods to choose from, but hey, no income taxes!

Not sure about the end of the tweet because I've not heard of any new factories being built or jobs created, but we all know Trump is honest!

Basically, this is Trump admitting that his tariffs are going to cause inflation and higher prices for the average family.

"External Revenue Service!"
What a barefaced liar the President of the United States is!
And really stupid lies, too. He thinks Americans are idiots who will believe whatever stupidity he says to them.
Trump is wrecking America.

I'd like to see this. Regardless of this 'progressive tax' nonsense - some form of sales or consumption tax is way more fair than an income tax. It's less prone to cheating, is spread out uniformly across all income levels and it encourages/empowers the consumers to make better consumer choices.

Hell, he won't even have to do anything regarding "no tax on tips" or "no tax on overtime" – tariffs will take care of everything...

Do you have a citation?

The External Revenue Service. He's still lying about who pays the tariffs.

Yes, factories are being built and jobs are being created. Several plants are under construction here, but these began under the Biden administration. Uline announced a new warehouse the other day because of an increase in demand from California. People in California need boxes, I guess. Unless they're moving because of Trump, I don't think the tariffs have anything to do with it.

I like the "plants and factories" touch. Trump and redundancy are eternally bound.

Yeah, because wealthy people buy way more cheap Chinese stuff at WalMart than low-income people.

Don't think too hard about it, goofballs! Magic is real!

Trump and his goblins just understand economics better than anyone in the last century, at least.

If you are a rational thinker rather than a dedicated cultist, these are a couple of key observations you will make about Trumps post above -

1) With the deportation of millions of 'illegal' workers, a birth rate below well replacement level, and already low unemployment, why are we paying a huge price to create jobs (if we even are) that we would have to fill by bringing in more migrant workers? I ran the numbers in a different post a while back, but basically even at impossibly high employment levels, we can't produce enough in America to replace all our imports. Not even close.

2) Trumps key push is to have much more of everything we consume made in America. That means a steady reduction in imports, and imports eventually becoming mainly just those critical things that we can't for some reason manufacture in America efficiently enough. Things like seasonal foods for instance. Yet Trump says he is going to fund large parts of the govt using import tariffs instead of income taxes. So it Trump is successful in his stated intent of reducing the amount we import, how high will the tariffs on the little we do still import have to get to fund his income tax cuts? Would we need to see maybe 500% tariffs on the last remaining critical imports that we can't produce in the US, because those are the last things we are importing?

In other words, when you stop and think rationally about what Trump is saying he wants to do, the end goals he tells us he will achieve are all conflicting with each other, and when you take a holistic look at all he is saying it makes zero sense. Sure, as individual goals he get make maga panties wet because they won't think beyond Trumps statements, but as a collection of policies they are just stupidly insane because they just won't collectively work.

I don't know about "fair". You could also make the argument that a tax system where lower-income individuals pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes than higher-income individuals is unfair for low-income individuals. Either way, replacing a progressive tax with a regressive tax will definitely benefit the wealthy and hurt the poor. Given the enormous wealth inequality in this country already I don't see how this could be considered a good thing.

Wealthy people shops the same stores everyone else shops at. Like that super-high end store called 'Costco'. And when they spend they spend more. What they don't do however if fill their home full of junk.

Read the original post. Trump is cited in it.

I mean, who needs shoes, shirts, fruits, and vegetables?

There's nothing we can do to benefit the poor when they already pay no stinking income tax!!! I should also point out that not everyone is poor and the middle class still pays a lot of income tax.

Ah, yes, back to the future. What was signed first? The Smoot-Hawley Act or Jackie Robinson's contract with Brooklyn?

That's too easy. Who won the batting title in 1930?

You're saying that taxing all imported goods at a retail level is a fair way to eliminate income tax. Have I got that right?
Did you read post #3?

But you won't be paying income taxes!
