Libs of TikTok recently posted videos mocking young women who were shaving their heads to protest the election of Donald Trump. But I wonder if this monkish display of female "self-mutilation" could be the forerunner of a larger "rejectionist" movement.

One might see a significant segment of the left deciding to adopt a "monkish" lifestyle of minimal consumption to protest Trump economics. If enough people reject buying anything except the essentials, the country could face a recession. And given that most people don't understand the difference between correlation and causation, the economic downturn would be labelled the "Trump Recession."
 
But, if trump managed to implement his across-the-board tariffs, and an economic downturn does occur, the "Trump Recession" would be the correct appellation.
 
I have my doubts
People usually give up creature comforts because they can't afford them. Which maybe the tariffs will cause a little bit of anyway
 

I'm almost sixty-eight years old with a home due to be paid off before his second term expires.
We have two decent vehicles, we are retired and all we need is our utilities (solar power) food and water.

We do not need to buy another new consumer good at all for the rest of our lives.
The GOOD news is, our daughter doesn't need to either, and she is thirty-one.
SHE has a good long lasting car, SHE has nice stuff, she just needs food, water and her utilities.
She could spend the next decade buying little or nothing but the absolute basics, too.

The fact is, that's the situation for anyone making a livable wage.
We can ALL buy used goods, TV sets and laptops from yard sales at a fraction of the new price, used cars, used clothing from thrift shops, many of us are even smart enough to grow a lot of our own food too.

That's what lots of people are forced to do in war zones, ya know...the stores get bombed out or forced out of business and all that's left is used stuff.

Well I’m sure firing half the federal bureaucracy, putting their number on the unemployment lines, won’t negatively affect the economy at all.

Yeah, with Trump sycophants instead of merit hires risen through the ranks. That should have no deleterious effects on efficiency and corruption levels.
