Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) on Thursday objected over and over again in order to keep statements out of the congressional record that accused Republicans of hurting working families by taking food stamps out of the farm bill. Before a vote could be taken on the Republican farm bill that drops the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — or food stamps — Democrats attempted to voice their unhappiness by inserting statements into the record.
“Mr. Speaker, I ask unanimous consent to revise and extend my remarks in strong opposition to the farm bill rule and the underlying bill because it will increase hunger in America,” Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) said.
Although requests to “revise and extend” remarks are routine, Gohmert immediate shouted, “Objection!”

Choke off folks that are ripping off the system and everyone wins.
Choke off folks that are ripping off the system and everyone wins.
So everyone who uses food stamps is ripping off the system?
Did I say that?
So everyone who uses food stamps is ripping off the system?
Agree, but if you wanted to choke off those ripping off the system, you would not have passed the farm bill at all.
So it's ok to hand people money to buy fast food at McDonald's but not ok to subsidize food production which saves money for everyone?

Way to go Louie. Glad to see my Rep is not just sitting in Congress and not doing something to help the people.
And to think, I only voted for him because his Dem opponent was a Welfare Liberal.
The only person who used the term everyone is you. I know first hand of food stamp fraud, and I tried to report it and the bureaucrats forking it over don't care. I'm all for helping people in need. People wo need dietary supplemental foods would do well to eat more rice, beans, and one grown vegetables. With the volumes of money we are talking about they could even establish community gardens / urban farms for people.

Hmmph....Welfare Liberal Dem vs Louie Gohmert aka the muslim terror-baby guy?
And you voted for Louie?
Seems you Texans could use a third party candidate.
Hmm, the latest figures I have for both Welfare and Food Stamp recipients come from Oct. 2012. They show 4,300,000 people on Welfare, and 46,700.000 people getting food stamps. Welfare Statistics | Statistic Brain
Wow, that means 42,400,000 people NOT on welfare use food stamps. Maybe they are all unemployed? Nope, the latest figure from the Bureau of Labor is 11,800,000 unemployed. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf
That still leaves somewhere near 30,600,000 people! Must be an awful lot of employed food stamp using cheats out there. We certainly can't need food stamps if people are gainfully employed can we????
Is there 1 person on welfare who is able to perform some labor? If so, that is 1 more than should be on welfare. For those whom are employed, we need a better system to handle them and a lot of them probably need to re-prioritize their spending.
If all your labor earns you in a competitive labor market is eating at a food bank and a space in a flop house, you need to seek better employment and make yourself more valuable, otherwise, I really don't give a damned.
Really? Quit and go "seek better employment and make yourself more valuable," or you don't give a damn? LOL.
My my, well-versed in the job market are we?
You do acknowledge that the government statistics show that 11.8 million Americans are currently unemployed and seeking work, right? Gave you that from the June 2013 Bureau of Labor statistics (which I think are under-valued and a bunch of government propaganda myself).
Well, according to the BLS as of July 9, 2013, there were only 3.8 million total job openings available throughout the USA for those 11.8 million currenlty unemployed. Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey Home Page
Yet YOU want people who are NOT on welfare, but are trying to make ends meet working, to quit and go find "better" employment? Where? People like you seem to think there is a massive hole of open jobs needing to be filled if people would Just... Go. Look! I hope you never lose your job if you are currently employed...(for all I know you might be a retiree). Might wake you the eff up to a little reality. Just saying.
