Nope. Orcas are not heating the ice. So they cannot be the cause. Then the cause of warming is the Orcas.

You just said, "Then the cause of warming is the Orcas." Orcas are not causing global warming either. The entire premise/argument of the article is not just off track, it's off the rails! The argument was NEVER that orcas were heating the ice. If that is your understanding then you are seriously off track.

Breaking ice by itself doesn't cause warming. Ice is broken by the kinetic impact from the orcas. Ice can also break off if there is enough melting underneath. It & they do not warm anything. Other factors are melting the ice. The misunderstanding here is certainly not mine.Correct. The cause of (global) warming would be the Orcas... breaking up the ice. Other factors warm and melt the ice. Looks like you misunderstood.

The question is not if Orcas are breaking ice. The question is if global warming is caused by Orcas. It is not. Neither is there any scientific study or experiment demonstrating otherwise.Actually, it is. At least as framed in this argument. The Orcas break the ice and that leads to more surface area to be warmed and weathered. What melts faster, one huge ice cube in a class with liquid are lots of little pieces of shredded ice? Ask any bartender. It is pretty obvious. It is the Orcas breaking up the ice... not the Orcas warming the ice.

They keep breaking up the ice, which melts into the ocean, so that they can kill seals. Should this be allowed?
The exposed water however absorbs the sunlight rather than reflecting it and warms the water and ice.Ice requires the absorption of thermal energy to melt. Simply breaking ice doesn't cause ice to melt. It only makes the ice into smaller pieces. If ice is melting, it's because it's too warm to remain solid.
LOL...
They have been doing that for all of their known time.
What is new in the last century, is large ships and submarines that break the ice. Then there is soot on ice also, decreasing the albedo.
