If every state goes whole hog in on gerrymandering the republicans will gain a net total 8 seats over democrats. Let's do it. The democrats have been gerrymandering their states for years and that's why you see CA, NY, IL with huge percentages of the congressional dsitricts despite the percentage of registered republicans and more importantly the number/percentage of votes cast for Trump in 2024. Of course the dem don't find problems with these do they? Hell, no because they did it to maintain power. I've heard several democats talk about it's all about maintaining power and that's the first true thing a democrat has said in years. Power to the democrats, that's what they are talking about. Lose the election and still maintain the seats according to the same congressional map? Common sense tells you it not right.

The bill limits redistricting to every decade in concert with the census. It ignores the ongoing US community survey which provides annual updates. As the survey shows more than 600K new residents have moved to Texas since the last census. But according to this bill district lines cannot be redrawn to reflect this reality.

The bill in the critera section 3(A) specifies so-called protected groups must have districts created to facilitate their preferred candidates election regardless of voting majorities. It's formalizing racial gerrymandering.

There is plenty more Democrat favoring gerrymandering in the bill such as requiring consideration of any and all alternate district plans generated by special interest groups before a new districting plan can be adopted.

It's not unconstitutional Texas or Illinois or whatever can gerrymander every 6 months or is no rule that says it has to be every 10 years. It's not unconstitutional it's actually very much protected by the Constitution see the 10th amendment.

There is not even a rule that you must wait 10 years to do a census you can do it since it's every year. It's that it must be done at least every 10 years.

My point is something needs to be done. Not going to get hung up on particulars.
