Germany is going to close most of its cultural institutes abroad

That's no bueno. One of the best hefeweizans I ever had was at a German place in the states.

The second best was from fatheads brewery, which is local, though. Goggle Fogger is amazing when its fresh at one of their restaurants.

sad news …… Germany has not much interest in its own culture
If youre going to start a thread about an event, then at least post a link to the story.

thank you for saying so! :)

just asking … without a poll …..

who has got any interest in German language and culture?
Big fan. I love listening to Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Wagner, etc… reading Goethe and von Kleist, Leibniz, Kant, Schopenhauer, Hegel, Nietzsche, etc… Studying the contributions of Heisenberg, Pauli, Schrodinger, Einstein, etc…

Obviously, lots of contributions to the world.

Schopenhauer and Hegel were good, but they couldn't out consume David Hume.

Culture evolves, it's OK.

I like what I know of Germany, I have some friends with German ancestry, I did work in my career for Germans and we enjoyed the interaction professionally, and personally, and they treated us well (and we them).

Not much interest in most cultures/languages, other than food, and I'm not a fan of what little I know of German food.
Beer took off in the states, so we have local brews of every type and flavor one can imagine, so even beer isn't a big draw now.

Thats too bad. Its like we're going back to a time when culture, art etc is no longer in vogue.

The hoffbreau house in Cleveland and fatheads brewery are both unlikely to close any time soon.

But the allegation is that the German government is going to close them down.

I think these two breweries are American owned.
