she should be-looks like she made an accurate shot that harvested the animal quickly
far left types hate hunters mainly because hunters don't tend to have much use for marxist, progressive or socialist ideals
so don't pretend your attacks on hunters is based for a real love of animals. Its based on your view that hunters are disgusted by socialism and collectivism
I have no use for your Bambist attitudes on hunting. I couldn't care less if you think its sick. The governments that license people like that lady hunter have made a determination that such activity works for the benefit of the citizenry of that country and buttinskis from other countries who have no clue don't matter to them
What a truly sick perspective on trophy hunting
Having actually been on safari in Tsavo national Park ,Kenya the last thing in the world I would want to do is kill one of these majestic creatures and then be photographed sitting and proudly smiling next to it.
Hogwash. Politics has nothing to do with this nor does this alleged altruistic conservationism
The posed nature of the photograph and the expression on her face tells you all you need to know about her true motivations.
Almost as sick as cheering the death of human beings
Then don't. Problem solved. Don't think anyone was forcing you either. But don't try to slam your neigh religious beliefs down other people's throats. Other people have differing opinions on hunting and trophy hunting.

Trophy hunting is immoral, plain and simple. I make no apologies for holding that view
Meh, the large farm practices of raising genetically modified chickens are FAR worse than legal, controlled, and regulated trophy hunting. You don't need to apologize for your religion, it's just that most people don't care to have it jammed down their throats and forced to obey it.
Last time I checked we actually ate those chickens .....not giraffes

Which I have not done
Trophy hunting by simply killing for its own sake is immoral, plain and simple. I make no apologies for holding that view
This village not only ate it... They also received the bone and carcase for use in building etc. It also gave an old dying animal some peace.
excellent point. the revenue derived from big game hunters is why countries such as Botswana and Namibia have made serious efforts to protect game animals from poachers and farmers (who often kill animals like Elephants for knocking down cattle fences etc or killing lions and leopards for taking livestock)

This is not the same woman or giraffe Gervais was on about and this isn't hunting
And of course it gave a smiling trophy hunter the chance to kill a large stationary target at close range with a high powered rifle. Must have taken a lot of hunting skill that . I would be a good deal more convinced of her altruistic motivations were she not quite so visibly happy about doing it. The photo pretty much speaks for itself

When will this ridiculous pass time be banned?
I'd seriously doubt that the primary motivation for such hunting trips is altruistic conservation.
Anyone hunting elephants for ivory in this day and age deserves everything bad that happens to them. No sympathy here.
Stepping back from the poaching aspect of this then. I don't really get this. Why would anyone proactively want to kill an elephant or a giraffe ?
'Canned hunting': the lions bred for slaughter | Environment | The Guardian
On TV recently I saw one rich American hunter in South Africa having a gazelle staked out between two trees so it couldn't escape, in order to get his 11 year old daughter to shoot it. He then got annoyed with her when she got upset about being forced to do it ! He claimed he was teaching her to hunt ! A whole sick market has sprung up to cater for some very disturbed individuals in my view.
I haven't eaten any elephant or giraffe lately nor have I used their skins. I seriously doubt that our deceased hunter was just about to either
Yes we can see just how conservationally minded they obviously are by posing and grinning in pictures like this one

Killing a harmless graceful animal like this at close range with a high powered rifle must make her so proud :2mad:
I am not saying poachers got to raise a herd of elephants like they do cows for their Ivory(I am surprised no one has done that yet).Fishermen don't raise fish for fishing, nor do deer hunters raise deer for hunting. All I am saying is that if they are going after the ivory it makes more sense to tranquilize the elephant and take it's tusks instead of killing the animal.Because if the animal is dead it's tusks do not grow back nor does the animal reproduce. Which is why I said that what the poachers do is akin to chopping down the whole fruit tree for it's fruit.
