Gaetz Removes His Name From Consideration

On one hand it was entertaining watching liberals lose their shit more than they usually do with the Gaetz nomination. On the other hand,...thank God Gaetz withdrew his name.

There was a police report though, which may complicate matters. At the least, it shows the alleged victim reached-out to authorities and a hospitable.

I the synopsis of the police report in the linked article below is mainly correct, it appears that the the alleged victim made some very dubious complaints, and that other witnesses didn't back her up. It also appears that the police are equally skeptical

It's not an easy story to follow because it sounds rather bizarre and the accuser is reported to have been arm in arm, touchy feelly, with Hegseth while she appeared sober but he appeared out of it sauced.

I'm actually disappointed in New America.

I thought Gaetz, like all the rest of Trump's yes-man appointees, was perfect. What better way to celebrate Trump's status as a sex offender than to surround him with other alleged sex offenders, sex traffickers, and pedophiles.

C'mon, New America, don't start fumbling the ball so soon! New America voted for this. Don't let those Democrats deny Trump.

....and you don't see how pathetic it is when "sticking it to a lib" interferes with hoping that they get what they want? Perhaps the message here is that you would have been perfectly fine with Gaetz. But "than God" the libs got what they wanted?

This is a sure sign of hopeless partisanship.

Um...except that's exactly what just happened with Gaetz. Had Democrats and everybody else just kept quiet, to include Republican Senators, Gaetz would not have dropped out.

I think what bothers me most about conservative America is that you all prove all the time how little you actually care about the country, while demanding that everybody pretend that you do. It not only reveals the lack of integrity of conservative America, but this demand also pulls the rest of America into the notion that it has none. Perhaps it doesn't anymore. I saw this last election as a very bold and loud proclamation of what America is now.

But I'm going to drop some Thomas Jefferson on ya. After defeating Adams, in what was an extremely bitter, partisan, and divisive election, Jefferson stated at America's first inaugural speech:

- "Every difference of opinion is not a difference of principle. We have called by different names brethren of the same principle. We are all Republicans, we are all Federalists."

What does that mean to you? Anything at all? Maybe start thinking about American instead of "libs," or "communists," or "Marxists," or "pedophiles," or whatever else you people default to in order to designate mortal enemies against whatever FOX News tells you is your cause of the day. Do you remember a time when Americans argued between the Parties about what to do about the Ozone Layer? Today, the argument is whether or not Global Warming is even real. Great growth.

IMO Gaetz was a sacrificial lamb. I think Trump’s selection of him was a promise to Gaetz offering him a nice job for his loyalty while still knowing the odds were stacked against his confirmation. That may be the same reason for the DOD job choice. Trump loses but at the same time wins by saving face with his followers on loyalty to questionable people for loyalty on their part.
 
Can you imagine how bad the truth about Gaetz is if he had to withdraw his nomination as a Trump pick?

Thanks the report. It was an interesting read.

As is often in these things, it seems to be a He Said/She Said scenario. Though that alleged victim went to the hospital (with a subsequent police investigation), IMO brings it up to a more serious political concern than a mere unsupported accusation.

It is he said, she said. However her "memory loss" from something she says she thinks was served by bartender doesn't correlate with more than one witness who says she didn't appear drunk, was Handsy with Hegseth, and video that showed her walking normally without any signs of being drugged or intoxicated. And in comparing their stories, including his also mentioning that her cover story would be just as her room "partner" was told by her, well it appears far more likely she had buyer's remorse and made up the "I think I was drugged" story.

Anyway, contrary to the press, there is far less to this story than presumed.
