A deal is all but sealed with Japan.
President Donald Trump confirming, "it’s a very big transaction and we’ve agreed in principle," while speaking beside Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in France after a meeting at the G-7 summit.
Trump said the prime minister agreed to purchase some of U.S. farmers’ corn, blaming China for the excess product on farmers' hands.
“From our point of view it is extremely important for our farmers and ranchers and those who work in the digital space,” he said, noting Japan is “our third largest advocate to market.” Already the island imports $14 billion in agricultural products, and Lighthizer said the agreement would open up $7 billion more.

Trump’s “magic wand” strikes again.
Every little bit to help bring the Commi Chinese to their knees is good news.
Trump’s “magic wand” strikes again.
So...let me get this straight. Trump kills a $1 trillion dollar deal that was already signed and that would have forced China eventually to adopt new trade policies more favorable to us, while opening trade with Japan, Singapore, Brunei, etc. Then, he negotiates a $1 billion dollar deal with Japan, the details of which aren't yet known, and you are celebrating.
I seem to recall a scene from one of the Austin Powers' movies: Why make a billion when you can make...a million? Again, just cannot make this sh*t up...
And this is why you shouldn't watch or read from FOX News. FOX declares that Trump struck the billion dollar deal. However, even Trump declared that they have only agreed in principle to core elements of the trade deal and he hopes to finalize in September. FOX is so eager to praise Trump for their viewers, they misinform constantly; and this merely proved that the numerous studies about FOX News viewers being the most misinformed are true.
However, why does this involve a magic wand? It's a trade deal, in which Presidents and their Administrations do. This is something good that Trump is getting done. So, why cheapen it by acting as if only Trump, and only Trump alone, can only do this with his magic wand?

No he didn't.
TPP obviously wasn’t the panacea it was cracked up to be, or the media would have got ape**** bonkers.
My guess is it would be like joining the EU... sounds good in theory, but when it hits the fan, the reality is something else... like NAFTA.
This agreement was meant to reduce or eliminate up to 18,000 tariffs on both agricultural and manufactured products, boosting trade, economic growth as well as political ties between the 12 countries. Former president Barack Obama and other TPP supporters believed that this deal could have helped the United States increase its influence over Asia-Pacific while countering China’s growth in power.
Obviously? No. The media reported it. From Forbes...
But like the Iran deal, Trump's declaration that it was a "horrible deal" came with no explanation. There were two motivations:
- One, his loyalist base loved it when Trump criticized anything Obama, therefore he killed it with gusto and to their applause. The same was true for Obama-era environmental protections and the Iran deal.
- Two, if you recall, Trump had many expectations when it came to budding up to China after elected. He thought pulling out of the TPP deal and dealing directly with China with a different deal would create better revenue for America. Of course, this was before he launched into a trade war with Beijing.
In the meantime, we walked away from a binding deal that would have sought to shove China to the edges in East Asia and across the Pacific. Ever hear of the People's Bank of China? It offers unconditional loans to countries across Asia and Africa that prefer not to play by the World Bank's rules. As of last year (2018) China became the world's largest development bank, which means that it is directly competing with the World Bank. Do you know what this means for geoeconomics and geopolitics? Let me put it to you this way: we created the World Bank and the IMF at Bretton Woods 1943. We created these in order to center the global economy around the dollar and the American flag. This is why we had so much influence in developing countries and why we promoted ourselves as product manufactures of the loans. They borrowed to purchase American goods. Do you think the People's Bank of China cares about the dollar or the American flag?
THIS is China's threat, and Trump's walking away from TPP opened the door wider.
Ahhh... that they’ve agreed in principle was in the OP. Reading doesn’t seem to be your strong suit. May I suggest you slow down a little?
Well, Obama seemed to think you needed a “magic wand” to get **** done... to create jobs at home. His words, not mine.
Obama tried with his cash for clunkers. Shovel ready jobs. green energy jobs... which resulted in... (insert fart sound).
What great deals did Obama negotiate?
Status of forces agreement in Iraq? nope.
150 Billion to the #1 state sponsor of terror and zero in return? yep.
Giving Cuba virtually everything they wanted and getting nothing in return? yep.
What great deals did Obama make?
Touting a few billion deal as the second coming of Christ and then grumble grumble grumble but Obama’s bad when you’re ridiculed for it.
Sounds like a Zimmer thread.
Well, Obama was not known for negotiating good deals. Name a good deal he made. This guy who claimed to have such stellar “judgement” is responsible for the ME invasion of Europe, the God awful deals with Iran and Cuba... support for the Muslim Brotherhood.
As noted earlier, if TPP was so great, the Goebbels Media would have shredded Trump during the election. Opponents would have shredded Trump. They didn’t. In fact, Hillary started on the anti-TPP train too.
The EU sounded good in theory, as did NAFTA.
Trump is dealing with China. No previous president had the stones to.

Let me start by fully acknowledging everything you said in your post is pretty accurate. I see one very big flaw in Chinas strategy.Obviously? No. The media reported it. From Forbes...

China hasn't been communist for 30 years, Brainy Smurf. Did you forget about the Chinese economic reforms in 1978 or maybe Fox didn't mention that?
Trump created the trade war with China because of his ignorance and it backfired on him.
Ahhh... that they’ve agreed in principle was in the OP. Reading doesn’t seem to be your strong suit. May I suggest you slow down a little?

On his first foreign trip as president, Trump went to Saudi Arabia, the beating heart of Wahhabism—the harsh, absolutist religious creed that helped seed the worldviews of al Qaeda and the Islamic State—and publicly demanded that the Saudis and other leaders of Muslim-majority countries “Drive [the extremists] out. Drive them out of your places of worship. Drive them out of your communities. Drive them out of your holy land, and drive them out of this earth.”
...in the course of meetings with King Salman, Crown Prince Nayef, Deputy Crown Mohammad Bin Salman and several ministers, one top Saudi official admitted to me, “We misled you.” He explained that Saudi support for Islamic extremism started in the early 1960s... But over time, the Saudis say, their support for extremism turned on them, metastasizing into a serious threat to the Kingdom and to the West. They had created a monster that had begun to devour them. “We did not own up to it after 9/11 because we feared you would abandon or treat us as the enemy,” the Saudi senior official conceded. “And we were in denial.”
You do realize the ruling party in China is the Communist party? Don’t you?China hasn't been communist for 30 years, Brainy Smurf. Did you forget about the Chinese economic reforms in 1978 or maybe Fox didn't mention that?

Anyway, this is a good thing Trump is getting done, but it is a thing that is mixed into the **** he created:
- Despite identifying China as the threat that it is in his National Security Strategy, he pulled the U.S. out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in 2017, simply because it was Obama-era. The World Bank and the Office of the Chief Economist at Global Affairs Canada found that the final agreement would, if ratified, lead to net positive economic outcomes for all signatories. Pulling out left our Asian allies (and Australia) to have to create their own economic security organization in our absence to combat China's growing geopolitical and geoeconomic moves in the region. For damage control, Trump announced that the U.S. would help Australia build a military base (which does what for China's growing geoeconomic moves?)
- After creating a trade war with China, which saw him give bail-outs to American farmers to cope (socialism), he is now trying to complete a billion-dollar deal with Japan in order to provide those farmers an outlet for the corn that the U.S. government forces them to grow. Again...more damage control from his poor decision making.
But, why does this involve a magic wand anyway? It's a trade deal, in which Presidents and their Administrations do. This is something good that Trump is getting done. So, why cheapen it by acting as if only Trump, and only Trump alone, can only do this with his magic wand?
