Postmaster General Louis DeJoy unveiled a sweeping overhaul of the nation’s mail service, displacing the two top executives overseeing day-to-day operations, according to a reorganization memo released Friday. The shake-up came as congressional Democrats called for an investigation of DeJoy and the cost-cutting measures that have slowed mail delivery and ensnared ballots in recent primary elections.

Twenty-three postal executives were reassigned or displaced, the new organizational chart shows. Analysts say the structure centralizes power around DeJoy, a former logistics executive and major ally of President Trump, and de-emphasizes decades of institutional postal knowledge. All told, 33 staffers included in the old postal hierarchy either kept their jobs or were reassigned in the restructuring, with five more staffers joining the leadership from other roles.

Everyone, please drop off your vote directly if you can. Trump has infected the USPS along with other agencies.

I plan on voting in person, co-morbidities and all, risk and all, COVID and all. I will crawl over broken glass to get these jerkoff un-AMERICAN Trumpets out of office.

Elements in government have been dismembering and weakening the USPS long before Trump came along. He is merely continuing the fascist efforts of his predecessors.

The gop wants to privatize the postal service, it's really that simple and it's been true for years. Anywhere they think they can make a buck with hardly any effort is all for them.

Next time trump tells you the election is rigged, believe him, he's behind some of the rigging.

You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. We take USPS for granted.

Junk mail is about it these days. Heck, text replaced email to a large degree

If they do privatize the post office, it's going to be amusing to hear the howls from the rural voters when they find out they will have to drive into town to get their mail. They think rural internet is bad, just wait.

While it's true that first class mail has been replaced with electronic means of delivery for a large number of interactions, there are still plenty of things that are sent via first class mail. I honestly wouldn't be opposed to eliminating paper delivery of everything (I pretty much have already) but we would need some type of "address" to send correspondence to for everyone. For instance, how do you send a drivers license, passport, social security card, etc. if there is no physical delivery? Maybe we pick these things up at physical post offices, like was done early in the history of the post office, and eliminate home delivery.

I live in one of those rural areas. After the snow plows took down my mailbox three times in two years, and one year the snow banks were too high to get to it anyway, I went to a PO box. But the post office blew all kinds of money building a beautiful little post office for our little town of less than 1,000 people, instead of keeping it in a local business, and they did that in all the tiny towns around here. I think that was a lot of money to spend needlessly. Now they have to spend the money to heat and maintain all of those little post offices, and it's a lot. With the competition from UPS and Fed Ex, they just don't make enough money. Got too big for their britches, they did. Every town has a Town Office of some sort, and they just should have put them there. We no longer have any businesses in town that could do it, but we've got a Town Hall.

Is there not other delivery services?

Sure there are.... and grandma living on that rural farm is really going to enjoy paying the fees...

The only un-Americans are the leftist, bull**** lives matter, communists and democrats! Oh and yeah, you wouldn’t crawl over any broken glass lmfao.

Perhaps that's why The USPS just keeps getting deeper and deeper in the hole?$$$$$$

Hey man, I know a lot of rural Grandmas who are loaded$$$$

Next time trump tells you the election is rigged, believe him, he's behind some of the rigging.

Absolutely. Trump often accuses others of exactly the conduct he himself has been doing.

Trump and his Cult has been trying to rig the election in all kinds of ways
- helping Russians to interfere, sharing internal data with them and using their stolen documents in 2016.
- knowingly spreading Russian propaganda in 2020; now they got Senators on board with that plan
- faking Biden videos
- suing States trying to make it easier for people to vote
- messing with USPS is just the latest

More will come to light.

I have no doubt they will want to help Russians hack the vote counts too, whether by willful ignorance or actively and on purpose. Russians already targeted election systems in all 50 states in 2016. Now they had 4 more years and a sympathetic administration on top of it, while USA has done nothing to protect itself. They only have to successfully break into a few key counties to succeed.
