Oh, Canada. Montreal fines church for being faithful to the Bible. Its simple. The God of the Bible isnt welcome in the home of the Canadiens. Hockey, yes. Jesus, no thanks.

I guess they don't want poison preached in Canada.

Get really mad about it, I guess.

Also, You People aren't preaching anything Jesus actually said.

So freedom isnt really freedom in Canada. That must be why all the Canadians on this board are so critical of the US.

It isn't really freedom here, either, is it?

Unless you mean "free to be just like you."

Yes. They are critical of a Moloch-based theocracy that aids fascism.

He's a singer. It wasn't a 'service', it was a concert they didn't have a permit for.

Next time that church wants to hold a concert maybe they ought to get the appropriate city permit.

Keep your right wing extremism in your own country.

It's more than a little ironic for someone to complain about a lack of freedom when they also promote the idea of Christian theocracy.

Being "faithful" is entirely permitted in Canada. Organising a large concert without the appropriate permits is not, regardless of who you are.

O.M.G !!

A church was fined for doing something it had no permit for? What an outrage!

Seriously, I would ask if anyone else has ever been fined in Montreal for doing something without a permit. My guess would be that it happens with some regularity.

Once again, Canada shows us the way.

"Freedom isn't free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we all don't chip in
We'll never pay that bill
Freedom isn't free
No, there's a hefty f***in' fee
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
Who will?"

Religion seems to think it has free reign to do whatever it likes, because religion.

I read the opening comment and all I could think of was..............

They didn't fine them because they are faithful.
Nice try but ...

Did you read the quote from the mayor?
Relevance? Or is that just opinion? Its clear the organizers violated regulations and were thusly fined for it.

Canada doesn't seem to put up with religious entitlement or BS. Much like how it doesn't put up with absurd anti abortion laws. Good on them. And all you can do is whine about it. Too funny indeed. 😆

This show runs counter to the values of inclusion, solidarity, and respect that are championed in Montreal," a spokesperson for the mayor said in a statement to the National Post. "Freedom of expression is one of our fundamental values, but hateful and discriminatory speech is not acceptable in Montreal."

It wasn’t really about the permit was it?

Why is this in the US constitution subforum?
