What would there be to get mixed up over? You're not getting this fake incident mixed up with a real incident , are you?
The accusations carried echoes of genuine attacks on New Year’s Eve a year earlier, and Nadja Niesen, a spokeswoman for prosecutors in Frankfurt, said on Thursday that the authorities had opened a preliminary investigation of two people suspected of fabricating a crime.

The true story is not the topic here, a fake one is.I am not deflecting. The fake story is the deflection from the real story of wholesale rape by migrants and or refugees.

The idea is to concentrate on the thread topic.Let's concentrate on the real story.

Frankfurt Mass Sex Assault - Fake news! While topical drift and debate is ok, derailing with another entire discussion, is not. Moderation may still be possible on posts made before this warning. |

I still don't get why the two would be confused. They were pretty much different, distinctively so.Most outrage from what I recall was over the 'real incident' that did take place: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/06/...gne-were-unprecedented-germany-says.html?_r=0
not so much the, fake incident. Clear now?

I'm sure you'll accept that we hear so much about this kind of story, that, some would be forgiven for believing/concluding that the sexual assaults that did in-fact happen, were false per se....thus no offence had actually taken place. When in-fact, one story was false, not the problem does 'not exist'. I can't be any more clear, I'm sure
Edited to respond to your edit: I'm talking in a more general sense of reporting on the issue, not Germany specific.
Reports of mass sex assault by Islamic migrant/refugees were fake! Bild has already apologised for going to print with the fake story.
Colour me shocked! Not.

I'd agree that, outside of Germany as the country concerned, the Cologne incidents got far more international attention (if that's what you're getting at). That doesn't mean that Bild's failing found less attention IN Germany.
At least from what I hear from there.
Hmmm............
........but if you're saying that the Frankfurt incident having turned out to be a fabrication doesn't make the Cologne incident a fabrication, I guess I get that.
No idea how we got there though.
I, for one, am not inclined to hold everything as fake on account of one or two items having surfaced as being that. Nor, for that matter, inclined to hold all reports to be credible on account of one or two having shown to be true.
That's the conundrum of this day and age, the scales being practically equal by now where the "reporting" scene is concerned, with just about anyone producing "news".
Only sensible address being application of severe scepticism.
Phew!:happy:You got there in the end. That's all that counts

I mean, just look at the triumphalism splashed across the OP. It is as if, there was NO incidents per se.....this story is the holy grail of all redemption.
I fail to see it as any redemption attempt for anything.I mean, just look at the triumphalism splashed across the OP. It is as if, there was NO incidents per se.....this story is the holy grail of all redemption.
This thread is about the Fake Frankfurt incident, however. Who would lie about such a thing, and why?
Laugh!Lying seems ubiquitous and omnipresent in the news at the moment. Just watch a Trump speech it's hard to know whether we should laugh or cry.....
That's your perception. I'm pointing up the fact that fake news is put out by people with all sorts of hate-fueled agendas.
