Al Franken has petitioned the Minnesota Supreme Court to provisionally seat him, after Governor Pawlenty (A Republican) and Ritchie (A Democrat) refused to issue a certificate. At this time, Franken is attempting to force their hand through the Minnesota Supreme Court.
In Minnesota law, the winner cannot be seated until legal challenges have been worked out. That is explicitly what the law says. But Franken knows that once he is seated, even provisionally, he won't be going back to Minnesota. No way, no how. This is clearly an attempt at an end run around the legal process. Coleman knows this too, which is why he is fighting it.
Those who have called Coleman a litigious SOB don't know Franken very well, because he is also a litigious SOB. Kudos to Pawlenty for standing pat, and kudos to Ritchie who, although a Democrat, has put the law above partisanship, as he promised before he was elected. And what do Pawlenty and Ritchie know that asshats Franken and Coleman don't? The law, of course. I think a remedial course in basic law should be recommended for both Asshat F and Asshat C.
