Canada should ban guns.
Politicized with the 2nd post? (also FYI Canadians have some gun rights too, just not as much as in the US).
My sympathies to those who've lost loved ones. What a tragedy.
Plenty of Canadians have politicized things on this board. This isn't a sympathy thread. I don't remember anyone holding back on Sandy Hook.

The Criminal Code identifies “the various firearms, weapons and devices regulated by the Firearms Act.”[4] The Code classifies firearms into three categories: restricted,[5] prohibited,[6] and non-restricted.[7] Non-restricted firearms “include ordinary shotguns and rifles, such as those commonly used for hunting. But some military type rifles and shotguns are prohibited.”[8] Restricted firearms include “certain handguns and some semi-automatic long guns (not all semi-automatic long guns are restricted or prohibited). Rifles that can be fired when telescoped or folded to shorter than 660 millimeters, or 26 inches, are also restricted.”[9] Prohibited firearms “include most 32 and 25 caliber handguns and handguns with a barrel length of 105 mm or shorter. Fully automatic firearms, converted automatics, firearms with a sawed-off barrel, and some military rifles like the AK 47 are also prohibited.”[10]
Note also that “antique firearms are not considered firearms for licensing and registration purposes.”[11]
I didn't see any information as to what sort of weapon was used so whether its an indictment of Canada gun laws or not is hard to say. What I did find interesting was that there apparently have been some murders in canada with machine guns-in the USA we have had maybe two in 80 years with legally owned machine guns. Of course it doesn't say and I don't know if you can legally possess a machine gun in Canada
Guns have to be registered in Canada, so how is this possible? So? Are you advocating for gun control as a solution or just trying to mock Canadians amid a tragedy in their country?
Regardless, it's very poor taste.
A horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to the loved ones of the dead and injured, and to the entire community.
Edit: Let me add this. WTF does it matter that this terrible thing happened in Canada? Is this really the time to strut and shame, as if the fact that yes, there are guns in Canada too and people get shot with them is something to gloat about. Some of you should be ashamed.

I agree with you on this being sad news, this can happen anywhere, but I will expand on one thing. Cowards attack soft targets, unfortunately you are correct in the assessment that they target schools, but to expand, they target anywhere they assume people cannot fight back. My heart goes out to our Canadian friends, wonderful people and may they find solace.Sad news. But this just goes to show that it can happen in any country. Cowards always target schools because they are vulnerable.

Oh, wait, you used to be right. The Conservative Party government tried to register long guns but the idea was pretty much universally ignored. I don't know anyone who complied, and the whole bad idea was abandoned, I forget when. You know how conservatives are about laws and regulations. Now that the Liberal Party is in power, there'll be no more of that crap.
