Definitely tit-for-tat, just decided to make up charges to trey and get back at us. Like I said in another thread, it is ironic a country with kangaroo courts, death squads, and concentration camps is complaining about Canada following proper legal procedures.
A former Canadian diplomat named Michael Kovrig who is now working for the international Crisis Group in China has been arrested and detained by Chinese authorities. The reasons for the arrest are unclear at this time. Is this a tit-for-tat reprisal by China for the arrest of Ms. Meng Wanzhou, a CFO for Huawei industries or is it an isolated incident? Input and opinions please.

For the same kinds of reasons quite a few Americans take their RV's into certain parts of Mexico. CHEAP! Or why a lot of single middle aged men from all over the planet were/are spending time in Thailand! Why the **** would anyone choose to live in China?

There can be one of any number of reasons why people would live in China, but going there knowing it is a very authoritarian country with it's interfering activities present in every other country, you would think 'easily recognizable' people (gweilo/gwailou) would be aware that the proverbial fecal matter could hit the rotary air movement device over any one a thousand things either real or manufactured that would be deemed a minor infraction by truly free democracies.
No argument there!Well, then it sucks to be him.
Because it actually is a great placeWhy the **** would anyone choose to live in China?
Michael Spavor has reached a settlement with the Canadian government over his detention in China.
Citing two sources, Radio-Canada reports that the total settlement is for $7 million.
John Philips, Spavor's lawyer, told CBC News that the matter between his client and the government "has been resolved" but would not offer any further comment.
