“Ford is lowering the price of some models of its electric F-150, known as the Lightning, by as much as $10,000, the automaker announced Monday after a series of price hikes over the past two years—as the automaker seeks to compete with electric vehicle giant Tesla.
The basic version of the F-150 Lightning will go from $59,995 to $49,995 and the platinum extended range version—the most expensive model of the truck—will go from $98,074 to $91,995, the company announced Monday.
The Michigan facility where the Lightning is produced is temporarily closed so its annual production can be tripled to 150,000, Ford said.
Tesla began producing its futuristic-looking Cybertruck this month, after years of delays. The company has said it plans to scale up production next year.”

Ah, all that EV crapola is years down the road, years. Maybe next century stuff.

Awesome Tesla really putting the pressure on everyone else.

Tesla aint no competition. The Cyber Truck is a joke.. The picture of the first one of that Texas factory... fake, it has no front door.

I wouldn’t drive one. Looks very impractical.

There are a lot better vehicles in that price range. 90k is unaffordable for many people

With its still non-existent truck? 😂

The first preproduction ones are being run off the assembly line. Expect the first for sales units to be available in 4 months

Color me shocked — I had no idea F-150s cost that much, especially the Lightning model.

People bragging about their Ford trucks, and I had no idea what was the big deal — it’s a truck!

Basically, yes. Tesla is known for pioneering and encouraging scale production of electric vehicles.

Look at how many Evs Tesla has sold in the past decade, versus how many Ford has sold...

Yes, they are fantastically expensive.

And massively popular

Wake me when they're actually on the streets. In the meantime, I'm gonna play a bit of Duke Nukem Forever. :D

Looks like Tesla's truck is a lemon before it leaves the factory.

Wired, which examined the documents provided by a whistleblower, discovered that the prototype version of the Cybertruck, tested in January 2022, encountered significant issues, particularly with the braking system. These problems, along with numerous other concerns related to powertrain, suspension, structural integrity, and sealing, have caused preproduction Cybertruck prototypes to fall behind schedule.

Rest of the article.

Tesla is struggling with design and engineering elements long ago solved by every other automaker.

It's amazing how many more evs every other automotive manufacturer sells. Like, why doesn't Tesla sell more than them?

They're number 2, and dropping fast.

I remember when the first electric golf carts were on a golf course. I got in and took off and thought "what is this crap".

Now I don't ever want to get in a gas powered one.

Holy shit, who sells more EVs then them?

Especially in the United States, where Ford is most competitive.

I know that Teslas are the best selling car in California, because snotty assholes there love them, but please tell me another company is outselling evs in the rest of the country?

Don't let Elon win.

I cringe at the thought of a gas powered electric golf cart....

What a stupid post comparing apples and oranges.

60 minutes ran a piece showing China is crushing everyone in the electric car world.
The metrics are important (total sales vs. market share vs emissions replaced etc.)

But yes, China is doing well on this front by most metrics, and hopefully American companies catch up.

Tesla is doing nothing of value.
Most people would agree that selling electric vehicles and standardizing a national charging network are of no value.

I disagree, but you are probably more right than I.

What a stupid post comparing apples and oranges.
It is. Ford sells gas guzzling pickup trucks.

Telsa sells fully electric vehicles. They are quite different.
