US statistics show that the difference in life expectancy between rich and poor has increased significantly over the past 15 years. Most marked is the difference among men. For the richest percentage, life expectancy is 87 years, at the other end of the scale it is 72 years, a difference of 15 years - and it is thus increasing. The United States is the only country in the world to have a population where life expectancy is declining. And it is above all the white working class that dies prematurely.
