For Abuse Victims, Life Just Got Harder

Horrible combination: stress, booze and more guns, all while trapped inside with an abusive nut. What a nightmare.

Now, the abuser has more guns, more "excuses" to lose his cool and a victim who cannot leave the house. There is a perfect storm brewing here for sure.
 

I'll admit the thought has crossed my mind. With families forced to hunker down together, they become more vulnerable to abuse and domestic violence.

I have the perfect marriage my wife lives forty miles away with her Mother.
 

First off, abusers are the worst kinds of POS and keeping these relationships in constant proximity is going to escalate incidents. Gun sales are definitely up. Are there a lot of abused women buying guns as well? I didn't see it in the article but would be curious to know how many abused women have protected themselves with guns. I ask because my aunt had to do that very thing to protect herself and kids from an alcoholic, abusive husband.

I think the average family is fine. But, abusive ones are never normal, even in best of times. And, victims of abuse are victims for a reason: they are usually trapped either physically or psychologically to begin with. Scary thoughts, IMO.
 
For the most part, abused wives do not buy guns. It goes against the nature of a victim to be assertive like that.
 

All the more reason for women in the U.S. to own a gun and be able to use it.

Yes women should. But, we all know it's a minority of males who own the most guns...it's a short dick thing.

More armed women means fewer rapists and abusers.

There was a time in this country where a father was within his rights to kill someone who raped, or abused their daughters. We need to see a return to that.

Armed mothers could shoot'em down like dogs. Of course you would want them to have a free pass, though.
 

good, now maybe more women will get out and leave these assholes. Same for any men that are accepting such treatment.

I know it's a bad time to 'get out' but hopefully there are shelters that can take them or they can get the abuser arrested or kicked out.

And women can get and learn to use guns too. Take his, hide them, turn them in, etc. If they havent stood up to these assholes or left by now, this is a wake-up call.

When has the law ever allowed a father to do that after the rape ?


So you believe in lynch mob justice ?



"Due process", frequently stated by the Constitution, can go f**k itself ?


I guess you can argue a cost benefit in dispensing with expensive things like lawyers, judges, juries in this financially hard times.

Thgey should but they don't.

I saw a documentary on abused women in a shelter, a common theme was them asking the counceling staff over and over what they had done wrong.


In short many of these women actually blamed themselves for their husbands behavior.
 

Yes. There is a reason these women are trapped. And, it's not locked doors or balls and chains that bind them. There are many good books on the subject.

It is very difficult for the rest of us to understand the victim mentality. And, that is ok. But what is not ok is someone thinking that just because they know what ought to be done these victims will be capable of doing it.

A gun in the home increases the chances of gun deaths of innocent people. A family is better off not having any guns in the home. Worried about a break in? Get a dog.

"gun deaths of innocent people" generally includes suicide....the fast majority of "gun deaths of innocent people" are in fact suicides....which greatly decreases the power of your argument.

Maybe it is an maybe it is not....that depends upon how one feels about suicide....my objection is that manipulators are calling suicide "gun deaths of innocent people"....this is abuse of language and proof that the speaker is more interested in driving an agenda than they are in speaking truth....than they are in clarity.
