A Florida man who claimed he fatally shot an unarmed man in self-defense after the two squabbled over a handicapped parking space was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison.
Michael Drejka, 49, was found guilty of manslaughter in August in the death of Markeis McGlockton, a 28-year-old man, in the parking lot of a Clearwater convenience store in July 2018.

20 years sounds about right and I wouldn't have complained about more. Shooting someone over a parking space is flat out murder and claiming self defense with regard to a fight you started needs to be severely punished. Kind of reminds me of that guy that shot a car full of kids because their stereo was too loud for his taste.
Yep, but you get half of that sentence for killing someone in self-defense who was sitting on their couch, watching TV and eating ice cream.
.....and hugs and the good book!
She was once lost, but now she is found.
Why do you hate wretches?
So much for the myth of the "good guy with a gun".
It's 2019. Anyone walking around with a handgun in a modern developed country has a screw loose.
And now we get the entirely unreasonable response to a reasonable conviction and sentencing. It's little wonder that gun grabbers aren't taken seriously by anyone other than gun grabbers.
I own guns and have since I was 16. I hunt and target shoot.
My buddies who hunt and target shoot think anyone who thinks they have to walk around with a sidearm is kookie. They are either cowards or nutty.

Blue privilege.
If you hunt and target shoot then you should know damned well that not everyone (or even "most") who carries is a coward or a nut.
If they carry the gun around because they think they need protection they are cowards. It's a stupid as if I was walking around with a baseball bat in case someone attacked me. It's no different.
Maybe it is a stupid idea but it's not as stupid as not carrying a gun when schools, churches, retail stores, restaurants and all kinds of other places go have been shot up in recent years. It's an extra pound or two on my belt that nobody needs to know about unless they decide to do something that necessitates a need to know about it. Think about poor Juicy Smollett. He could have saved himself all kinds of problems if he was carrying and defended himself from his attackers.
If you're carrying a gun around - you are the danger.

I'm guessing you don't live in Chicago or Baltimore, where every "nutty," "coward" drug dealer is packing concealed heat even though it's illegal and the only thing they hunt is each other.

I've spent time in Chicago. Didn't feel so scared I needed a gun on me.
Normally to any asshole who means you harm, like the 5'11" inch "child" who repeatedly slammed George Zimmerman's head into a sidewalk.
Pathologist supports Zimmerman's description of attack
I have, too--in the downtown business district. Did you walk in one of the choice neighborhoods in the South Side at night? I'll take that in advance as a "No." If you did then who's the
kook? :2wave:
You mean the areas with idiots that are walking around with guns? Those guys? The cowards/kooks who think they need to be armed?
That's exactly my point.
