The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is collecting the private medical records of many Americans from several different federal and commercial databases to give to researchers for US health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr’s new autism study.

With this information being included in the database, the NIH is also reportedly crafting a new registry to track those with autism, per CBS News.

The health agency claims it was doing so to fulfill a controversial promise the secretary of health made to root out the cause of autism by September, despite some experts saying that Kennedy’s goal is not even feasible.
He's creating a national autism registry and pissing on HIPAA in the process. Trump's government is deep into lawless territory.

The worst part about this is that there are children out there who NEED help and won't get it because this sort of shit will lead people to avoid getting a diagnosis so their kid doesn't end up on a registry.

It is already challenging enough to get some people to agree to have their children tested so that they can receive the help and support they need - this type of absolute bullshit is only going to make it so much worse.

If the opposition can win in 2028, we are going to have to have some real national healing to do. Nuremberg-style, preferably.
If America can survive until 2028.

I fear this will also lead to autism being the new Nazi pink triangle. Autistic kids face terrible stigma now, imagine how it'll be in only a year from now.

My fear is that democrats are just never aggressive enough. Imaging how different things would be today had Garland been agressive after J-6th. I just don't trust dems to bring the fight where it needs to be.

If Garland had pounced on Trump while the negative sentiment about the insurrection was felt by both parties, Trump may very well be in jail today.

We'll see though.

Article was behind a paywall - did it explain the reason behind providing RFK with a registry?

They're going to amass and collect private data of individuals but cut funding into actual RESEARCH.

Sounds.....creepy.

Give them a minute and we'll be moving on to how it is best to simply sterilize and institutionalize certain members of the population...

In the 1920s, the science of Mendelian (Classical) Genetics was still in its infancy. The scientific community around the world was all abuzz with the potential benefits. One hypothetical benefit (at the time) was the potential to predict (and prevent) inherited birth defects.

In Germany, the National Socialists put a plank in their national platform to focus the nation's efforts on preventing birth defects through applied genetics. It was seen as a noble cause and was very popular.

Adolf Hitler, in his quest to be elected, included this point in many of his speeches. After all, who could be against ending birth defects? The result was a German government sterilization program for those who carried implicated genes, and the proposal was remarkably popular.

Of course what Hitler didn't express was the idea that any non-Aryan carried defective genes. That would come later, as Jews and Gypsies were included in the compulsory sterilization orders.

I bring this up because some of the most brilliant scientific minds around the world have been looking at autism for decades, and a good portion of Americans are going to believe that a non-scientist named Kennedy is going to solve the riddle in a matter of months.

If autism turns out to have a hidden genetic component, can forced sterilization be far behind?
