Strategy?

Scape-goating. Getting them to think he lost because of nefarious forces plotting against him rather than because he is a corrupt, criminal, and incompetent vile-pig bastard. So he muses he might fire Fauci and voila!, they are not only repeating the refrain but automatically accepting Fauci as part of the conspiracy by all reality to victimize Trump and Trumpists.

In reality, Trump cannot fire Fauci. He is not a political appointment. Dr. Fauci is a career civil servant

He's never had the 'power' to make an administration do anything.

We, the people, depended on the administration's common sense, sense of responsibility, and best interests of the country to listen. The Donald was too stupid and selfish to listen.

Nobody's going to muzzle Fauci if he's fired....he'll find another means to share his info. The issue remains the same however, nothing can make The Donald listen.

This would be the least spiteful thing I imagine The Donald doing when he loses. I'm worried about just how spiteful he'll be as a Lame Duck.
