ew York magazine reports that Fetterman, who suffered a stroke in 2022 one month before being elected to the Senate, is unrecognizable to his past and present staff, prone to “conspiratorial thinking” and “megalomania.”

Fetterman got into a car accident, driving home from the airport after an early morning flight well over the 70-mph speed limit on I-70. His wife in the back seat suffered a pulmonary contusion and spinal fractures, and Fetterman told one of his staffers that he had fallen asleep while driving.

In an incident earlier this year, Fetterman was filmed on a flight to Pittsburgh arguing with the pilot about wearing his seat belt correctly.

“If you want to go to Pittsburgh, it’s simple,” the pilot told him. “You’re going to have to follow our instructions or be asked to get off the airplane.”

In another instance in 2023, one of his staffers reported hearing from a journalist that Fetterman had walked into the street and was nearly hit by a car. A short time later, a Senate doctor called Fetterman’s office to report that the senator walked into a group of people and nearly knocked them over near the underground trolleys running between the Capitol and congressional office buildings.

Fetterman insists that he is in good health, despite these reports, and chalks up the disturbing reports to disgruntled staffers. But other accounts show increased black-and-white thinking on issues such Israel’s massacre of Gaza, which has alienated many of his staffers, and an inexplicable show of support for certain Trump administration polices, drawing a backlash from liberal supporters. It seems that Fetterman’s health is raising the question of if he’s fit to continue serving in politics.

When Fetterman won his seat, that was an important win for the democrats as he helped keep the democrats in control of the senate. Pennsylvania according to the partisan voting index, PVI is slowly turning into a red state. It has gone from a D+4 15 years ago to a R+2. Meaning republicans have a slight edge statewide. Both Trump and McCormick won statewide in Pennsylvania last year. If Fetterman were to step down, chances are a republican would replace him in a special election. Is the liberal or progressive wing of the democratic party getting mad at Fetterman worth that? They got mad at Manchin which more or less forced him to retire. Manchin, a moderate democrat was replaced by a MAGA republican. Whether or not Fetterman is all there, it may be best to let that sleeping dog sleep. That is unless having 47 senators cut down to 46 is what the liberal, progressive wing wants.

I can't help but wonder why the Dems are going after Fetterman now, instead of going after him before he got elected. He really hasn't changed all that much.

Is it because he's becoming more vocal?

Or maybe they've learned that the Biden health cover-up (for want of a better word) was not a terribly good idea.

I think they created a Frankenstein monster (no pun intended) and how they have to destroy it.

There can be no dissenting opinion within the democrat ranks. It is strictly all for one, one for all.....begin to speak out, share an alternative opinion and look out, here they come......cancel culture and the entire cult will cut one out from within in a heartbeat.

Tell Liz Cheney.

People are concerned about his personal safety. and the safety of those around him.

Tell Liz Cheney.

She is far past differing opinion, into a personal vendetta. Clearly, it's easy to see how the democrats vote is the proof in the pudding.....fearful of their own 'cancel culture' they know how to vote, else.....speak out, oops say hello to the FBI, an investigation, a rumor, some gossip, possible indictment......then good riddance. It's how they roll.

She was the third most powerful member of the GOP House Caucus and was banished for one reason that had nothing to do with policy and everything to do with not showing fealty to one man.

Because Oz was the alternative.

Could be completely non political.
Suggestions are that he may not be taking his meds.

Why post such stupidity?

Because Oz was the alternative.
doesnt explain the New Yorker piece now. (OP link)
I think it's his wife that has the sour grapes - Fetterman seems much cognitively better then during the campaign against Oz

The article gave several examples of Fetterman acting dangerously.

he's becoming much more of centrist, while the power in the Democratic party continues to skew more left

Right out of the left's politcal playbook. First character assassination, if that don't work then try real assassination. Use Trump as an example.
