I have stumbled across an amazing study. This study polled people about both their fetishes and their political leaning and plotted the strength of the correlation on a political compass. Here are the results, broken down by gender:



So...some interesting results for sure. Some observations I want to make:
- The one highest correlated kinks for being right, male and female, is race play. I think that's incredibly funny.
- Turns out leftists really are into pegging (especially women)
- Virtually no correlation for anal sex
- I find the authoritarian right correlation to uniforms hilarious
- The left correlation to group sex is definitely funny. Equally distributed sex
- The right correlation to incest, necrophilia, and pedophilia are...uhh...interesting?

So, what are your thoughts on this? Are you surprised by any of the results?

It's worth noting the correlation was very weak, but highly verified due to the large sample size. It bears repeating that correlation is not causation.

I agree it isn't telling, but some of the results do fit stereotypes so well. I still can't get over group sex being so correlated with the left and uniforms being correlated with the right.

Interesting. I wonder how much of this is legit and how much is just statistical noise.

Some make perfect sense, such as femdom/male subs on the left and raceplay on the right.

I would avoid drawing too many real world political conclusions from it. Like I noted, the correlation is very weak (but demonstrably present given the sample size).

Obviously plenty of people on the left enjoy latex, and plenty of people on the right enjoy "sex positions besides missionary". None of the correlations are especially strong predictors of anything.

It is fun to play some armchair sociology though and theorize. Like for the men for example, males submitting and males dominating are both equally left, but the split is authoritarian left vs libertarian left. For for women females dominating/submitting is very much a left right divide.

To briefly engage in a level of analysis this subject probably doesn't deserve, one could argue that for women it's possible that the traditional power dynamic is more politicized. Essentially, that the social pressures associated with a conservative vs liberal view of sex are stronger for women than they are for men. For men, it's possible that porn more than the social pressures associated with ideology shaped the dom/sub dynamic. Although who knows how gay people might have skewed all of this. It is possible that for straight relationships there was no auth/lib divide on males dom/sub, but the inclusion of gay men created a correlation.

I feel responsible that you looked those up somehow. I grew up with the internet so none of these were news to me and I've had time to process the knowledge of those things existing.

Pretty much at this point, it is pretty safe to assume that someone somewhere has a fetish for everything. I remember reading some news story about a person who had a relationship with their car or something.

I can't stress enough that the correlations are very weak, and the political compass itself is a flawed and shallow compression of political views in general. Certainly too loose a correlation to make sweeping moral statements.

For example, it could have been there was almost no correlation at all then a bunch of Nazis or something filled out the survey and they did have a strong correlation with those fetishes. Or maybe a bunch of priests shared the survey with each other and that skewed the pedo correlation

There is always a strong possibility of sampling error in anonymous online surveys. Just something to keep in mind.

Right authoritarians have a fetish for scat? Like thats the most surprising thing as they say they hate uncleanliness and degeneracy.

Like scat, waterstports, beastiality, and pedophilia are an absolute no and under no circumstances for me.

I think it is too widespread to give it a political leaning, CLAX1911. Yes a lot of "liberal" Hollywood types engaged in pedophilia. But then, so did a lot of Catholic priests. I would not consider them "left wing."

I agree it does seem to be pretty universal. But I would not consider Catholic priests right wing at all. Baptist preachers definitely and there are plenty of pedophiles there too.

It's not denying any of the fetishes in any of the areas. It's noting concentrations based on self reporting. Which at the minimum means that more right than left self reported it, and more authoritarian then libertarian self-reported it. Moreover, such a study would not indicate which quadrant was caught more, nor does it show where the individuals caught in pedophilia in Hollywood fall on that chart. It also doesn't indicate whether or not the people in the study actually act upon their fetishes.

It's not denying any of the fetishes in any of the areas. It's noting concentrations based on self reporting.

It's denying the huge concentration of pedophilia on the left.

But it's someone else put it that is something that spans all religions and non-religious people alike and crosses all political viewpoints as well.

It's putting it on the right because the person who created it didn't want an associated with the left.
