This kind of thing isn't exactly new. Back in the 80's when I was in OSI had a standard practice of investigating cop squadrons and the motor pool any time they needed a bust.

Really what's the big deal? It isn't like someone can just run off with one of these ICBMs.

Well, if they're loaded up on MDMA, they might resist an order to launch a world-ending nuclear attack, so perhaps that's not so bad.....

They had the sex and the drugs, if they were also listening to rock and roll, they would have a trifecta.
All kidding aside, I have heard Missile duty is duller than dirt.

If we allowed a man and a woman in the same silo, it wouldn't be long before a missile was launched.

Missile duty is not only mind numbing but if you are young and single the off duty time sucks as well. It is not duty many people want and once you're off duty there is not a lot to do unless you like to hunt and fish all the time. If you don't like nasty cold weather it isn't very pleasant either.

I'm not making excuses. It doesn't take a genius to understand that if you take young people, give them large responsibility, give them crap duty hours, call them back on alerts from off duty time, send them to the middle of nowhere, have them often work virtually alone and then when they do have time off have them live in the boonies with not a lot to offer socially you're probably going to want to monitor them for drug use. It's **** duty.

I don't know what the Air Force is doing to address the issues but it doesn't sound like it is working if they are doing anything.

We once had a pick order on a chaplain who went AWOL from Minot. :2rofll:

To add: On the other hand there are USAF Security Forces at every air force base and more all over the world providing damn fine security for everything the Air Force knows or owns.
