In Florida, as if we really couldn't have guessed it.

Officials said the scheme involved peddling bogus, forged diplomas and transcripts from what had been accredited schools to aspiring nurses, in order to help candidates bypass the qualifying requirements necessary to sit for the national nursing board exam. Although they still had to take the exam, the bogus credentials allowed them to skip vital steps of the competency and licensure process, officials said -- and once licensed, those individuals were able to find a job in the health care field.

Overall, the conspiracy involved the distribution of over 7,600 fake nursing diplomas and certificates issued by Florida-based nursing programs, according to officials.

To do this, with something so important, it just boggles the mind.

This has been an ongoing issue I hope this gets us closer to a permanent resolution

I could use a cheap nurse about now to help me with the cooking and personal hygiene issues. I don't care if their certificate is up to date. Can you find them on Craigslist?

Here is a 2021 story with extremely similar circumstances selling false degrees.

Here is a case from 2015 about 2000 NY nursing students getting scammed.

Scamming nurses seems to be an ongoing issue

Could be wishful thinking but wouldn't it be nice to hear the DeSantis administration was tangled up in this. Hell, Florida already had a governor tied to the biggest Medicare scam in US history.

I hope you won't be too upset if it turns out DeSantis has nothing to do with this.

Interesting. Even with a fake degree you still have to pass state board exams which requires a lot of knowledge. I'm thinking these are medical professionals from other counties whose accreditation isn't accepted in this country. Which brings up a bigger question. There's a shortage of medical professionals in the United States. Isn't there a way to fast track them into jobs here? Or is this a union thing protecting its turf.
