"Harrowing new video footage reveals the moment a mob of angry Massachusetts residents descended on federal immigration agents and attempted to thwart their operation to detain a woman with her family. Neighbors spotted Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials intercepting a mother who was with her teen daughter and her newborn baby at about 11:15 a.m. Thursday on Eureka Street in Worcester. The father was detained by ICE on Wednesday, according to the local immigration justice network LUCE.

...A swarm of 25 locals gathered, with one heard demanding to see identification and a warrant and calling to stop the chaos. “We don’t have to show you anything,” an ICE agent reportedly told the crowd....Immigration officials called upon officers from the Worcester police for backup, with the department describing in a statement how the “unruly” crowd “put their hands on federal agents and Worcester officers.”

...Worcester City Councilor Etel Haxhiaj was one of the residents who, she said, formed a “human ring” around the detainees. ...“As someone who prides themselves on leading a welcoming city, I am devastated to hear about the separation of a family, especially with Mother’s Day around the corner. The fear of ICE tearing a family apart is the worst nightmare of so many in our city,” the mayor said."

My copy of the social contract doesn't say anything about standing up against government thugs. It just says we are suppose to do whatever the state orders us to do.
 
I'm fine with the civil disobedience to stand up for whatever you feel is right. But take the arrest, don't assault the police. Fight it in court not on the street.

I am curious, is it true? Does ICE not need ID?
 
Now, we're not supposed to detain and deport women here illegally because Mother's Day is two days in the future???

As far as her children, the parent will certainly have the option to take their children with them.

The OP claimed the Father had been detained on Wednesday, so their apprehension would result in the family being reunited.

These aren't the most competent autoritarians around. That's provpbably on purpose.

The better course is to honor the citizen's position and unite them with the community in which they live.

Liberals have been unable to stop Trump since 2015.

Liberals are totally incapable of dealing with fascism. This was obvious throughout the 20th century.

The only thing liberals take to a rightwing Republican knife fight is warm soup and bandages. Liberals have failed to prevent or preclude where we are today and indefinitely. Trump 2.0 means to castrate the federal judiciary. To ignore it and just go ahead. Thanks to liberals the MagaMericans will do this.

If they do not provide ID, there is every reason for citizenry to assume this was an attempted kidnapping and exercise their 2nd Amendment rights to detain and secure these individuals who claim to be ICE but cannot or will not prove it, until their identities and residency status can be verified.

That’s above your pay grade. Remember your place: Donald decides what somebody is guilty of, and your job is praise him, support him and call him Sir. He has little interest in having to explain his charges to some lowly foot soldier.

Indeed when it's liberal males they just extend their wrists to be cuffed while reading the Icestapo their rights to be thug goons who haul the libs off. This is because liberals are civilized and therefore superior. Libs on the street never put up a fight or resist. They're too polite to tussle. So they just get disappeared -- ever so quietly and peacefully. Until there are no more of 'em.

Coming soon to a street near you.
 
We'll see more resistance, more arrests and sooner or later, the courts siding against The Icetapo's heavy handedness.
