Do some research, the American progressives during the progressive era in America were mostly nationalist socialist. Progressives like Woodward Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt, Dillingham, etc.
Todays progressives aren't progressives, they are something else hiding behind the progressive label.
That argument certainly can be. Look at Obama, his bailouts of private companies, his attempts to control private insurance.
The left hates to admit it-but the Nazi's were socialists.
It's not even to support his own ideology. It's simply to bash "the left," since that is all U.S. Conservative ever does.
Yayyyyy!!! Progressives are Nazis! More petty rhetoric ****!
Kobie please contribute to the discussion.

You're making **** up again, I never said progressives were Nazis.
But Hitler did borrow a few things from the American progressive era.
Down below is an example.
Then you have the Hitlerjugend, better remembered as the Hitler Youth borrowed from the American progressive era BSA. Not the motorcycle dummy, the Boys Scouts of America.

The "discussion" is based on a warped interpretation of an FBI report. If you were capable of approaching the subject with a shred of honesty, maybe this "discussion" would be worthwhile. But you're not, so it's not.

It's true, the American left supported Hitler until 1941 when Comrade Hitler attacked Comrade Stalin.

What it means is you dont like this place. Have you considered moving to europe? (serious question)
Doesnt that defeat the basic understandings of freedom, representation, free speech, democracy?
"nationalist socialist (formerly known as progressives) or liberal democrats"
Thats acutally known as the roman salute. It was borrowed from the Romans, not "progressive America"
If I wanted socialism, I'd go to socialism. Why spread that misery here?
No no no. Most American progressives during the American progressive era were nationalist socialist. But there were also internationalist socialist and Americans who were neither who were or supported the progressives. But the majority of Americans rejected the progressive movement but accepted many parts of the progressive platform.
During the American progressive era, progressives were found in both the Democrat and Republican parties. Progressive wrote the prohibition act and wrote most of America's immigration laws until 1965. They were behind criminalizing marijuana, heroin and cocaine. Had more to do with racism. One thing all progressives had in common, they all were racist.
Until 1970 you could say the vast majority of Americans were nationalistic. The only Americans who weren't were the radical left, CPUSA, its splintter groups and internationalist socialist. But when Hitler attacked Stalin in 1941, even the American communist and internationalist socialist became American nationalist.
:doh
Awhh I see we do not learn the basic lessons of history. But none the less keep on believing you petty ****ty rhetoric you spew on here.
I'm not a student of revisonist history. I know you have access to a good research library, go down there and start reading the newspaper articles from 1900 to 1941. Pat attention when Hitler comes to power. Pay attention to the labor strikes during 1939 to 1941.

Also, the Italian Fascist party platform from the era sounds strikingly like the democrat party platform.

Oh, is that so. Please tell us more.
- The prompt enactment of a state law sanctioning a legal work day of eight actual hours of work for all workers.
- A minimum wage.
- The creation of various government bodies run by workers' representatives.
- Reform of the old-age and pension system and the establishment of age limits for hazardous work.
- Forcing landowners to cultivate their lands or have them expropriated and given to veterans and farmers' cooperatives.
- The obligation of the state to build "rigidly secular" schools for the raising of "the proletariat's moral and cultural condition."
- A large and progressive tax on capital that would amount to a one-time partial expropriation of all riches.
- The seizure of all goods belonging to religious congregations and the abolition of episcopal revenues.
- The "review" of all military contracts and the "sequestration of 85% of all war profits.
- The nationalization of all arms and explosives industries.
