What are your favorite movies about school? Your list can include ANY type of school—real schools, fictional schools, K-12 schools, colleges and universities, military schools, public and private schools, boarding schools, and home and charter schools. You can use any criteria but I’m only including movies in which all or at least a significant part of the plot involves school or class.
Here’s my top 25:
1.American Graffiti
2.Pleasantville
3.The Karate Kid (1984)
4.Back to the Future
5.Better Luck Tomorrow
6.Wonder Boys
7.Election
8.The Fabelmans
9.American Beauty
10.Scent of a Woman
11.A Little Princess (1995)
12.Juno
13.Scream
14.Hoosiers
15.Mean Girls
16.National Lampoon’s Animal House
17.Higher Learning
18.He Got Game
19.Rushmore
20.Harry Potter Series
21.Ferris Bueller's Day Off
22.The Breakfast Club
23.Heathers
24.Wild Things
25.Cruel Intentions

Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Sixteen Candles did not make the list, I find that suspect.

Rushmore and Election are my favorites from that list.

The Holdovers was quite good.

To add to the already good movies mentioned:

Clueless
Legally blonde
10 things I hate about you
School of rock
Dazed and confused
Van Wilder
Road Trip
Carrie
Superbad
Freaky Friday/Freaky

So many good ones, I'm sure there's still a lot more.

To @OrphanSlug, @Loulit01, and @americanwoman:

I liked Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Sixteen Candles, Legally Blonde, and 10 Things I Hate About You and wanted to put them on my top 25 list, but they weren’t good enough to make the cut. Two other movies that I wanted to include are Some Kind of Wonderful and Kindergarten Cop.

I thought Grease was boring, and I’ve always disliked Dead Poets Society. I don’t think it’s a bad movie, per se, I’ve just feel that it is dull, cliched, and vastly overrated. It should never have been nominated for Best Picture and Best Director at the 1989 Oscars, and the fact that the script won Best Original Screenplay instead of the script for Do the Right Thing has to rank as one of the stupidest decisions in the Academy’s history.

Superbad is a timeless classic.

Didn't see Good Will Hunting mentioned yet, worthy addition for Robin Williams' performance alone.

You all are missing a couple of real classics

To sir with love

Blackboard jungle

A newer one that i also loved

Freedom Writers

I would argue that several of the movies listed are NOT "about school"
They are about school-aged people
