Thread hijacked and spammed.
Time to exit.
Happy weekend all. :2wave:
I was thinking that it might be fun to start a thread dedicated to the ever popular "fake news."
Therefore, I dedicate this thread for the reporting of the various examples of "fake news" floating around the internetz.
I suppose I should establish some kind of understanding of what definition of "fake news" shall be applicable to this thread. I'll try to not complicate the focus.
If you find an example of some kind of blatant propaganda bull**** floating around, copy the link and share it here. Briefly explain why the link you shared is absolutely "fake news." Keep in mind that just because you do not want to believe it, doesn't necessarily qualify it as fake news. The responsibility of displaying WHY it's fake news, is upon the person posting the link. Belief, opinions, will carry no weight.
Ex: Post the link and then comment, "This link says "X." I can prove that it's fake news and here is my evidence." Short and sweet.
Things we all want to look at.
1. The leading headline. ex: "President Obama creates giant mudslide killing in Texas 7 with 20 still missing. Heavy GOP districts were targeted." A headline that does not directly reflect the actual facts on the ground is to be labeled and accepted as "fake." This needs to be shown in the post.
2. Note the source and see if we can establish the usual dot.com culprits and their frequency of creating midleading/fake news.
3. Note the political lean on the piece of "Fake news." Is it a rightwing propaganda outlet? Is it a leftwing propaganda outlet? It would be interesting to see if any particular party or ideology is more prone to assimilate the bull**** "fake news" type of propaganda. Just remember, regardless of the lean of the "fake news," you STILL have to show the evidence that it is, in fact, "fake news." We might even get a clearer understanding which kind of ideologies are more honest in their presentations. It can go 2 ways. What we are trying to avoid is labeling an information piece simply because it comes from the rightwing leaning outlets. (Or, leftwing leaning.)
4. Please do take advantage of the various fact check sites available throughout the internet. And, anyone who disagrees with a fact check sight, simply because it doesn't agree with them, must post evidence of it's shortcoming. Anytime, anyone, calls a recognized fact check site, (ie: Snopes, Politifact, FactChex, etc.,) "fake news," they will lose their debate by default. (Kinda like the Godwin's Law. :lamo) You have to PROVE it's fake news and you have to post facts, or checked facts, to make your argument. You can't just say, "Well, it's FOXNews, so we all know it's fake." (Or, CNN. or CBS, NBC, etc.)
If you can't find and post evidence of what you believe is true, then do us all a favor. Grab a beer, a bowl of popcorn, go sit in the corner and S.T.F.U. because nobody "in this thread" CARES what you believe.
Keep this thread in mind, if tomorrow, or next week, you run across some fake news. The thread will be sitting here available to use.
Have fun!
Quite a torrent. Can you imagine being in an administration inundated with this amount and level of fake news?
No wonder he criticizes the media.
You can start by including every single anti-Trump article that you can find in the Mainstream Media including their talking potato heads, the non-Mainstream Media including THEIR talking potato heads, the entertainment media and every anti-Trump blog. Forget about Twitter. We already know that is manipulated by Twitter Corporate to only show anti-Trump stuff.
In any case, I would add a bit to the definition of "fake news".
1. Spin is fake.
2. Unnamed sources is fake.
So...y'all have fun, now.
Let me remind everyone what I said in my first post in this thread:
You have presented just SOME of the raging flood of anti-Trump crap the media has presented since Trump descended his golden escalator...2 1/2 years ago.
The media is a huge problem in the USA right now. It is so biased it is not even funny anymore, more like tragic.
Lefties lie like there is no tomorrow, and especially about Trump. It is sickening how all the lefties hate our nation, and Republicans. They use the media to silence us, and now we are finding out sources like Twitter, Google, and You Tube all discriminate against the right and conservatives. All three are involved in legal actions against them currently for manipulation and discrimination, of first amendment rights..
The screaming cry baby left is silent when called out on this truth.
I agree to a point. Only, I see more misinformation coming from the "righties" but I digress. I have to wonder why that is? Does the poster in the above quote literally not see or recognize all the bull**** put out there in social media or on television generated by factions on his side of the political spectrum? Or, does he just refuse to acknowledge them? We will never know because the task of staying on point to find out will surely be diverted, if not by some Obama or Hillary deflection, then by some personal summation like, "You're just a stupid librul doody-head."
Could it be environmental? Does the poster live in a geographical area that only presents the rightwing flavored information? In this day and age, that is hard to imagine.
Peer pressure perhaps?
What about me? Why is it that when I find "fake news" it is almost always presented by the right, in truck loads, greatly outnumbering the examples of left-wing fake news I run across? Just the opposite of the person quoted above. We both share the same internet. Our TV's have the same stations. Could it be possible that I am just as blind? That's why I like this thread. Some more moderate right leaning people have brought forth things that made me think. I am now more aware of the efforts from the left to mislead as well. I will be paying more attention in the future. You see? I can learn. But I am willing to bet the poster quoted above, is not. But I could be wrong.
No doubt, some media outlets are uber-biased. FOX and MSNBC come to mind. I would also include CNN, however, I have no doubt that if DJT was a democrat, being as stupid as he is being, CNN would come down on him, just as hard as they are coming down on him now. And I am just as equally as sure, if DJT were a democrat, the same people criticizing CNN now would be praising them instead. So, that sets CNN aside from MSNBC or FOXNews, in my opinion (which has no place here.)
And today's media marketing strategies seem to be:
1. Divide and identify your target audience.
2. Take any little point you can find, add it to any other little points you find, take all the points and craft them in to a narrative that will satisfy the hunger of your target audience.
Perhaps, if both the left and the right could come to the understanding together, that this media "divide and conquer" marketing strategy is unraveling the very fabric that has held us together for 200 years, we could defeat this propaganda attack on our nation together. Perhaps?

Cry about it.
I think a good and fun exercise for those wishing to broaden their horizons, heighten their levels of understanding, and possibly escape the heavy yoke of their own philosophical blindness, would be to have each participant in this thread go out and search for a fake news article presented from their side of things.
IOW, if you are known to lean left, go find an example of left wing fake news.
If you are known to lean right, go find some right wing fake news.
And share your findings. It could be eye opening (for those who aren't already totally blinded.)
I turned off the nightly news on the MSM's some time ago. Especially when they start another hit job story on Trump.
Now I don't like all the twitter crap Trump posts up. Some of it I get, but largely most of it is totally useless and just stirs the big pot of anger on the left. While that can be fun it is less than productive.
The main stream media in general, Wa Po, NYT, and CNN, MSNBC are total garbage when it comes to politics. They squandered their entire credibility long before election day when they were proven FLAT WRONG about the election, and mostly about Trump. Now they are just ass hurt Democrats still trying for a kill shot to bring Trump down a year after the fact...
So their credibility is totally destroyed, and they so willingly did it to themselves. They say Dems "eat" their own. Maybe they should "'eat" left wing reporters who lie. They would not go hungry in this decade of they did... The retractions of their sins are on the back page and buried, and this is no accident. The lies are so rampant and egregious, some reporters are now being let go after several years of lies about Trump and the right.
To understand the Democrats and their media, lets not forget who their sugar daddy is, George Soros and company. Understand who he is, and what he wants for our nation is part and parcel of why I hate anything to do with Dems and their lying media. Soros and the Dems want our nation to fail, and become one under the UN. with all nations. One world Government. The ****ing Democrats can deny it all they want, but with Soros paying the bill we all know better...So this is the back drop to see the left and all of their anti American feelings. Many of them hate this nation, and would sell us out to Soros at the first chance they get. Just like the DNC already has.
Critical thinking is involved in exposing the left wing lies in print, and in video. If you are capable of critical thinking, most of the lies of the MSM's are quite easy to see. People with weak minds, or people who refuse to use critical thinking are easily influenced by the lies that when told enough times, begin to be accepted as the truth.. And my oh my the lies are repeated constantly... Goebels of Nazi fame would be proud...
Tactics of the left are easy to understand. The leftists hand book by Saul Alynsky is their play book, it is easy to see as well.. If you study this for a bit you will see what I mean..
****ing Democrats are losers and a drag on our nation. They hate us the way we are. We hate them for we love the way our nation is...
I bet you learned all about George Soros from unbiased and fair media sources, dinytcha?
I leaned about George Soros and his beliefs from many sources.
That does little to hide the truth of who he is, what he does, and what he wants. Are you in denial? Sounds like you definitely are.
Your left wing is pond scum for having anything to do with Soros. He is a global problem, for any thing that is not socialism or what ever left wing identity you wish to choose.
[h=2]February 1: POTUS Threatens to Invade Mexico[/h]On February 1, Yahoo News published an Associated Press report about a phone call President Trump shared with Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto. The report strongly implied that President Trump was considering “send[ing] U.S. troops” to curb Mexico’s “bad hombre” problem, although it acknowledged that the Mexican government disagreed with that interpretation. The White House later re-affirmed that Trump did not have any plan to “invade Mexico.”
Nevertheless, Jon Passantino, the deputy news director of BuzzFeed, shared this story on Twitter with the exclamation “WOW.” He was retweeted 2,700 times. Jon Favreau, a former speechwriter for Barack Obama, also shared the story, declaring: “I’m sorry, did our president just threaten to invade Mexico today??” Favreau was retweeted more than 8,000 times.
Meanwhile, the Yahoo News AP post was shared more than 17,000 times on Facebook;Time’s post of the misleading report was shared more than 66,000 times; ABC Newsposted the story and it was shared more than 20,000 times. On Twitter, the report—with the false implication that Trump’s comment was serious—was shared by media types such as ThinkProgress’s Judd Legum, the BBC’s Anthony Zurcher, Vox’s Matt Yglesias, Politico’s Shane Goldmacher, comedian Michael Ian Black, and many others.
