F.B.I. Searches John Bolton’s Maryland Home, Official Says

How many of the cases against Trump did a judge dismiss again? How many times did juries rule in his favor?

See the difference?

Personally, I think we can debate the true gravity of some of his offenses (the criminal fraud charges, for instance), but they were nevertheless legally valid, which is likely not to be the case with these investigations Trump's DOJ is pursuing.

Yeah, as I figured, you just enjoy librul tears - even when it's not libruls who are finding themselves in Trump's crosshairs. MAGA cultists are so brainwashed they can't even differentiate who's a lib and who's not. Anyone who speaks truth is the enemy. You'd fit right in with Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge.
No person in their right mind can deny that Trump purloined top secret national security documents and refused to return them. Others that did less are sitting in federal prison. Prosecuting him for this was not only legal but warranted.

The "sensitive source" was Stefan Halper, CIA and FBI operative codenamed Mitch.
Halper was the architect of the Hillary Plan, the Crossfire Hurricane only "informer" who falsely claimed to have witnessed the whole Trump-Russia Collusion.
Bolton was covering up for Obama, Clinton, Brennan, Comey. Because if the documents were released that showed that the "Trump-Russia Collusion" narrative was all based on paid-for dirty operative Halper's "testimonies", their whole house of cards would have collapsed.

It doesn't matter that others who did less are sitting in federal prison. Trump is a mythology at this point. He's an avatar president.

That's because the facts known at the time were incontrovertibly bad for the president. He was asked to return documents, as he was required to do by the very laws he's sworn to execute. There wasn't a question of did he or didn't he possess them - he clearly did and the government had been trying to retake possession of them for months.

In Bolton's case, unless there is some new development (I'm suspicious that there is), his information was reviewed. So signs would point to a politicized investigation. It's also highly, highly unusual that the head of the law enforcement agency that is conducting a raid would comment publicly as the subsequent investigation is being carried out, and almost unheard of that he would comment on social media. Law enforcement shooting its mouth off like that is a good way to get a case dismissed, actually, but if this wasn't a serious law enforcement action to begin with...

See- you are still stuck on the notion that the final disposition answers all.
It doesn't.
The process can- and often is-the punishment.

“Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.”

— President Harry Truman

Ok-- and the previous president tried to throw the current president in prison.

I am not aware of this quote being cited during those travails.

Biden did nothing of a thing. Under Biden, the Justice Department was meticulously severed from presidential guidance. Contrarily, Trump thinks the Justice Department is his personal revenge tool.

Even Mr. Smith conceded he was under the full authority of the DOJ.

One would have to believe that installing a radically inexperienced and unqualified weekend TV host as Secretary of Defense or comically unqualified Russia-loving Tulsi Gabbard as NSC hurts U.S. security.

The lenses with which you are viewing these things are distorting your viewpoint.
Replacing competent people because they don't lie for you with incompetent but loyal flunkies is the mark of every authoritarian and the reason they turn their countries into dysfunctional, fetid swamps.

On Friday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth fired Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. (Hegseth also recently fired the top two officials at the National Security Agency after they were targeted by Laura Loomer, a conspiracy-mongering Trump supporter.) No real reason was given for Kruse’s firing, but it doesn’t take a George Smiley to figure out what happened: The DIA incurred Trump’s displeasure in June by producing a preliminary estimate that found U.S. airstrikes, far from having “obliterated” the Iranian nuclear program, had set it back only for a matter of months.

Even Mr. Smith conceded he was under the full authority of the DOJ.
Yes, the DOJ. And the DOJ traditionally, since Watergate, has scrupulously kept itself separate from the White House. This is another of those "norms" that Trump and the Republican Party have been trashing this last decade or so.

Actually, it started with Newt Gingrich, got boosted on steroids by Mitch McConnell, and then exploded with Trump.

That wasn't even true in the Biden Administration.
One of the presidents first directives was to the DOJ telling them they can't go after journalists when searching for those who unlawfully leak information.

There's no comparison between Trump and any president who came before him. Trump and his MAGA crew are nihilists, intent on burning our democracy down.

That they were fired is factual.
That they were fired because of 'displeasing Trump' is isn't factual, it's positing a premise as a means to push the demanded narrative.

Since you didn't cite, here's the article I'm reading from.

Given that the BDA appears to have been badly wrong might be the reason for the firing, but no reason was given.
That no reason for the firing was given is also factual.

Since you didn't cite, here's the article I'm reading from.
My citation was, and is, in the words "On Friday."

Since common reason escapes you, let me try a more artistic means of making my point:

  • In his first half year as president, Trump has systematically purged the federal law-enforcement apparatus of rule-obeying public servants.
  • He is replacing them as quickly as he is able with people chosen for their loyalty, without regard for their other qualifications.
  • At the FBI, Trump forced out his own first-term appointees to replace them with absurdly unqualified loyalists chosen for their record of complying with any Trump wish, no matter how glaringly unlawful.
  • Over at Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Trump is building an enormous paramilitary force staffed by people hired for pro-Trump zeal—and who may ignore written law.
  • The administration has claimed an emergency to collect hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue without the approval of Congress.
  • Post-Watergate ethics rules have collapsed beyond recovery as Trump and his family collect hundreds of millions of dollars in gifts, gratuities, and payoffs.
