It can be assumed that there was surveillance on the craft while it was loaded, as it departed Venezuela and as it traveled. The configuration of the craft was the same as myriad other craft that have been found to transport drugs to the US. This is known because drug interdiction IS NOT a new thing in this area and the profile, matching known patters of transport, was pretty clear. In years past these craft were intercepted (when possible) but now, as a designated terrorist organization, the rules of engagement are different.

If they captured the boat they could prove there were drugs and interrogated the traffickers. But 8 of the most technologically advanced and massively expensive warships in the world were apparently unable to accomplish this.

The back and forth on this topic reflect our differing views of Trump. Based on his extensive record of lies and crooked dealings, some of us, I include myself, see no reason to believe his claims. Based on our consistent skepticism, it seems others will believe whatever he claims. This may be the case of the proverbial stopped clock that is right twice a day. But between those times the Trump clock rants and raves, insisting it’s correct for all 23 hours and 58 minutes, and shows little respect for human life.
