(04-21) 09:58 PDT SAN JOSE -- Aviation and security experts were at a loss Monday to explain how a 16-year-old boy from Santa Clara managed to scale a fence at Mineta San Jose International Airport before surviving a five-hour flight to Maui in the wheel well of a Hawaiian Airlines jet.
Surveillance video showed the boy hopping a fence at the San Jose airport while it was still dark Sunday morning and then walking toward a Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 767 on the tarmac, authorities said. Flight 45 took off at 7:55 a.m. - with no one realizing that the boy had snuck into the plane's wheel well.

Seemingly physically impossible, and quite scary from a security standpoint.

I just dont believe it. The temperatures up there aswell as the lack of oxygen would mean that you fall into unconciousness and then freeze to death. If you are lucky enought to lose conciousness.
I have read countless reports of African illegals who painfully froze to death in planes that they hid in.
fascinating. That part of the plane isn't climate controlled and can be unsafe.
Unsafe? It's unpressurized. I'm not sure how he got out of that without brain damage.
"Unsafe" is an inadequate word to convey the inherent insanity of this event. That's unsafe
