President Donald Trump's personal attorney used his Trump Organization email while arranging to transfer money into an account at a Manhattan bank before he wired $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels to buy her silence.

The lawyer, Michael Cohen, also regularly used the same email account during 2016 negotiations with the actress — whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford — before she signed a nondisclosure agreement, a source familiar with the discussions told NBC News.

And Clifford's attorney at the time addressed correspondence to Cohen in his capacity at the Trump Organization and as "Special Counsel to Donald J. Trump," the source said.

Cohen has tried to put distance between the president and the payout, which has been the subject of campaign finance complaints.

That's one not very bright lawyer.

This story is definitely not going to fade away anytime soon.

Was just about to post it. Cohen lied about the personal finances, otherwise it would be his personal email. Not corporate email. Also, that story was kinda hard to believe in the first place. So yes, it appears that Cohen used campaign finances to pay off a pornstar. That is highly illegal.

Yup. That's what I'm seeing too. This is bad for Trump, in more ways than one.

How does Cohen still have a license to practice?

How does Cohen still have a license to practice?

Because he has not yet been brought before the New York State Bar Association and had his license reviewed.

This would be enough to topple most presidents. But Trump has his loyal 35% and they own the GOP so Trump remains.

Well if the Judge rules the NDA invalid, my oh my will the sparks fly.
As we have seen in the past, Clinton had to testify. Times sure are interesting.
Under other Presidents, a scandal now and again and some really big one. Today with Trump it is day after day after day.
If and I use a big IF, Trump, and other in the Family are ever charged, what excuses will the rabid conjure out of their bags of deflection, deceit, and denial.
I can just see them, one helping the other pull something out of their respective arses.
I do hope they use protection though.

Trump only hires the best :lamo:lamo

I imagine the whole Trump/Kim un/NoKo meeting bull**** came up in the news yesterday evening ONLY because this story was gonna hit today.

Two front page headline stories & the Trump/Kim un story won out for this morning's papers, because of the timing.

Trump world folks knew this story was gonna hit today.

What this all means is that the Trump/Kim un story is just a bull**** nothing burger.

Trump is now in some very deep doo doo .................. and don't forget my prediction that Trump will have the planet in a full nuclear war before the end of April, 2018 ....................... time is running out; **** is getting crazy ..............

If Trump goes thru with his reported plan to 'reset' his entire administration, then there would be absolutely NO CHECK on Trump in the event Trump orders a nuke strike, because no NEW folks would challenge Trump on such a decision.

**** is getting crazy ...............

I'm not a "law" person. Just so I can follow this ongoing story, has Cohen specifically violated a rule or law that would necessarily result in being disbarred?

I don't think so though I'm not a lawyer either. Nor is the email the smoking gun some people think it is. It does not tie the funds to either the Trump Organization or the campaign, the latter of which would be illegal. It's a interesting tidbit but not really all that telling in and of itself.

Absolutely. Not many folks on either side care about whether Trump shtooped Stormy. It's the bungling of the cover-up that will be much worse than the naughty magazine-spanking.

It's obvious not many people do not even care don't about this controversy. Remember the ridicule we got here when we first posted about Stormy Daniels? We were bringing up all these questions a month ago and they told us how dare we post this type of slander? Well, if you don't care about this controversy, then welcome to America, Emperor Trump!

I doubt it, but I'm not an expert on the ethics of lawyers (that seems somewhat of a contradiction, I know...ethics and lawyers).

Anyhow, I doubt it, but this is just one more ugly wrinkle in this situation. This will force someone's hand to investigate a possible violation of campaign funds rules.

it certainly implies that Cohen has been lying about the Trump/Stormy story, which he has been lying; he just got BUSTED ..........

I can see this going the route of John Edwards if there was campaign funds involved & you can bet there were .......... lock him up ..........

Implications are nice but irrelevant. The only thing you can say for certain is that he negotiated the deal from his Trump Org email address. That of itself means nothing.

He may have lied about the personal finances. But the fact he used a company e-mail doesn't prove anything. I had two e-mail address on my iDon't (some of you call it an iPhone) and it would randomly send from the wrong e-mail address. He may have used the company e-mail address by accident. Or...he may have used it on purpose because that was essentially all he ever used. Or he used it to signify who he represented. The fact he used that e-mail account isn't proof of anything really.

What's sad is, almost everyone - including those on the Right - already believe that yes, Trump cheated on his wife with a porn star and paid her off during his campaign. All this is, is legal (or close to legal) verification of precisely that.

Unfortunately, most on the Right simply don't care. Trump is giving them what they want, and they really don't care what he's done - up to and including effectively being a Russian puppet - as long as he's not a liberal, not a Democrat, and as long as he makes life harder for anyone who isn't a WASP.

I really don't care. If he cheated on his wife that's between him and her. I only care if he broke campaign finance law. I similarly didn't care than Clinton messed around behind his wife's back. Again it's between him and her and I only cared when he lied to Congress about it - when he broke the law. About the only other time it matters to me is if the person ran on a platform of being pure as the driven snow.

We really have to grow about this. Politicians and other powerful people cheat on their spouses. They shouldn't. It's wrong. But it doesn't implicate their ability to do their jobs.

You really think that I care that Trump cheated on his wife? That was never the issue. What IS the issue is that he paid her to keep silent...and apparently did so using campaign funds (which is illegal). Seems using his own money would have been too expensive for him.

Fair enough. I read too much into what you wrote. I'd care if he used campaign funds to pay her off because, as you note, that's illegal.
