FBI official under investigation after allegedly altering document in 2016 Russia probe - CNNPolitics

Washington (CNN)An FBI official is under criminal investigation after allegedly altering a document related to 2016 surveillance of a Trump campaign adviser, several people briefed on the matter told CNN.

The possibility of a substantive change to an investigative document is likely to fuel accusations from President Donald Trump and his allies that the FBI committed wrongdoing in its investigation of connections between Russian election meddling and the Trump campaign.

The finding is expected to be part of Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz's review of the FBI's effort to obtain warrants under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act on Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide. Horowitz will release the report next month.

If true, then send him to court, if guilty, off to jail

I also have no doubt errors were made.

I am sure they will be listed in detailed in the soon to be released report
 
If true the agent should be penalized to the full extent of the law.

I agree with the prior posts (#1 and #2), but would also like to add: before we assume, it might not be what some would want. This person might even have altered a document to try to help Trump. Until we know more, this is all speculation.

Don't be Obama and say they acted stupidly.

Irrelevant. Stuff like this undermines the public faith in law enforcement which is far more damaging then the act itself.

I don't disagree that it is irrelevant. I'm just trying to get ahead of the Trumpists who believe this can only be a deep stater who wants to hurt Trump.

Why even speculate to that point. Thats like intentionally creating a conspiracy theory before the facts are dropped.


I mean it evident that the IG is investigating the FISA "abuse" to which the US Government spied on a Trump official to surveillance a political candidate. Now why would you suspect that the FBI agent would have altered it in Trumps favor when they were trying to SPY on him and more so it was not his FBI it was the prior administration........

These are what push the political lines further apart..... and people ask why Trump is such scumbag......because they have been doing it to him even before he was the POTUS..... sad....

I asked how you would come to that based on the "FACTS" IG is investigating the FISA submissions. THAT were used to Surveillance Carter Page, who was a Trump associate. What was speculation about that? ............

THATS inherently misleading......

IG is specific to the FISA Abuse report and SEPARATE from the FBI investigations.... (Which Barr and Durham have jurisdiction and are currently investigating)

IG has no jurisdiction to FBI's investigation. ONLY to the Use and actions in relation to the FISA handling and documents. (FISA is the tool and predicate used)


The FBI investigation MAY by justified. But the use of "TOOLS" like FISA to be found used in an inappropriate manner is what is being investigated.

Goodman, an anti-Trump, could be correct but in the end, what he said above is hearsay.

When did they Surveillance Carter Page - October 2016 to June 2017 , Why? In reports the Dossier named Carter Page on multiple occasions. So the connections through the dossier allowed for supposed approved surveillance.

"Because" they have been doing it to him before he was POTUS, was he NOT already being surveillanced (Trump) prior to his election in 2016. Yes or No? The Dossier was factually used as part, whole or partial in the FISA records. This means that Trump was already a none named target or a incidental target. Then when he became POTUS he became focal point surrounding the Mueller investigations.


3 of the 4 are NOT specualtions. 1 is my well thought out opinion, none of it is politically motivated as I am applying facts NOT politics.

You on the other hand applied an UNFOUNDED Speculation that we should wait because the "FBI" agent may have altered it for Trump........ then your second post was
