"I believe in redemption or I wouldn't be doing this job ... but based on the legal standards, we find that you continue to pose an unreasonable risk to public safety," Parole Commissioner Robert Barton said.

There are arguments for both sides, but there was no imminent threat when this 18 year-old mercilessly shot his mother to death. Good decision IMO.

Good. I don't care if their parents "had it coming." Nobody who is capable of assassinating their parents should be allowed to walk free in our society.

Agreed.

Good news. Even better that they got their hopes up then he got crushed.

Agreed also.

Yes, they had no right to kill their parents for any reason. Taking a life is serious business, and a very sad outcome. Happy with this call, enough violent nutters roaming the streets .

They are only sorry they didn't get off. They are fine where they are. Expect to hear the same news soon for Lyle.

I had a feeling this was going to be the outcome, all too easy for the parole board to bring up the nature of the crime and circumstances that plagued the case anyway.

As expected Lyle's parole application was also denied.

A California parole board has denied parole for Lyle Menendez, who was convicted alongside his brother of murdering their parents in 1989.

The parole board also denied Erik Menendez parole Thursday. The decisions are a crippling blow to both brothers after a yearslong fight for release.

Despite the board’s ruling, Lyle Menendez still has hope of walking free. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has the rare power to reverse parole decisions, and the brothers are separately seeking clemency and a new trial.

I worry that if they praise Trump along the lines of; "I admire his extraordinary achievement in becoming the president", they might see the light of day...

These guys will always be a danger to society. Life without parole was the correct decision.
Their sentence never should have been downgraded in the first place from life with no possibility of parole to 50 years to life with the possiblility of parole, because of California's youthful offender act that was enacted in 2012, and made retroactive.

This was cold-blooded 1st degree murder. Maybe they were abused, but they were 18 and 21 years-old when they killed their parents. At that age, all the had to do was walk or run the **** away.

If it is true that both Menendez brothers were victims of years long sexual abuse by their father, and their mother knew but did nothing about it, I would heavily factor that horrible abuse into considering their sentence.

“Life without possibility of parole” would be off the table.

Also, I disagree that either would represent a threat to society if released. There is no logical argument to support the notion, IMO.

I agree with this.
