There really is no other answer. "Christ" is the root word of "Christian". How can you call yourself a Christian if you do not follow the word of Christ? Serious question.
No, they are not. Joseph Smith was a proven charlatan, this is irrefutable.Do you think Mormons are Christians?

It's not the same Christ. Do you know anything about the Mormons? And yet, the LDS believe in Christ and probably follow his teachings more than any other sect that call themselves Christians.

Certainly their leadership is not promoting the teachings of Christ by allowing gay marriage and gay church leaders. I cannot know the heart of every Episcopalian. I am sure a great many don't subscribe to what their leadership has done.
So, how can you follow Christ without following Christ?
Test everything in light of Scripture. You are being willfully ignorant.Never said one. Wouldn't so good luck with your straw man there. Denominations are all about differing interpretations of the Bible soooooo which denominations are following Christ and which ones aren't?
Test everything in light of Scripture. You are being willfully ignorant.
You are dodging again. Which denominations are following Christ and which ones don't stand up to the light of Scripture?
It's not a dodge, do a little due diligence. I don't keep track of all denominations. A couple of major ones that openly flout Scripture are the Mormons and Watchtower Society. Then there are tiny churches that are obviously not Christian, like the Phelps organization. Any denomination which supports SSM, is clearly not following Scripture.
Are you even a believer?
I'm not going on display for you.
BTW, the Phelps org would NEVER support ssm. Sounds like a fit for your description.
It's not the same Christ. Do you know anything about the Mormons?
Having been raised with, related to, and living among them, I was bound to learn something about them, don't you think? Almost every devout Mormon I ever knew has a big portrait of Jesus hanging prominently in their living rooms. This is the one I used to see most often...
But now I'm starting to see more of this one....
So now you're telling me that's not the same Jesus from the bible that other Christians worship? Really?? Is it because he's not pictured morbidly dying on a cross?
The answer is going to be that Jesus Himself said nothing about homosexuality. Ignore His familiarity with Scripture and also ignore what occasioned His first miracle. And try to ignore those who are trying to trap you into a defensive position.
Countryboy seems to have anointed himself God and is trying to pass judgment on who can or can't be a Christian. Apparently, Episcopalians and LDS don't qualify because Countryboy has spoken. What do the LDS have to do with this thread on the Episcopalians' decision?
The nature of the Jesus Mormons believe in, is not of the Bible. The Book of Mormon is also not of the Bible, and Joseph Smith was a charlatan. But Nota is right, this thread is about the Episcopalians.
I'm sure that's going to be news them. I agree with you about the BoM and Joseph Smith but that doesn't negate the fact LDS do strive to live the teachings of Christ as opposed to just giving it lip service on Sundays and sinning the rest of the week.
The Presiding Bishop of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (as distinguished from the Missouri Synod),the Rev. Elizabeth Eaton, stated in her pastoral letter to her 3.8 million congregants that decisions on both same-gender and hetero marriages both are going to be left to individual congregations, saying, " This decision affects each of us, some profoundly, and we are not of one mind.” Evangelical Lutheran Church in America releases letter on SCOTUS marriage ruling | Episcopal Cafe
That is commendable, and they do a lot of good works. But they eschew the nature of Christ and God's word. So, not Christian.
Anyone up for some bacon-wrapped shrimp? It's sacrilicious.
....In 2003, Gene Robinson became the first openly gay, noncelibate man to be consecrated as a bishop of the Episcopal Church. In the wake of his consecration, entire dioceses severed ties with the Episcopal Church, eventually creating the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA). But the Episcopal Church continued to liberalize its sexual teachings, lifting a moratorium on any more gay bishops in 2006 and creating a “blessing ceremony” for gay couples in 2009.
In 2002, the number of baptized U.S. members of the Episcopal Church stood at 2.32 million. By 2012, that number had fallen to 1.89 million, a decline of 18.4 percent. Meanwhile, attendance has fallen even more steeply. Average Sunday attendance in its U.S. churches was 846,000 in 2002, but had fallen 24.4 percent by 2012 to only 640,000. Other signs of congregational liveliness have fallen even further. Baptisms have fallen by 39.6 percent, and marriages have fallen by 44.9 percent.
As for the ACNA? It’s seen its membership rise by 13 percent and its Sunday attendance rise by 16 percent in the past five years. Since 2009, the ACNA has planted 488 new congregations. In 2012, the entire Episcopal Church managed to plant four new churches....
They don't eschew it more than any other denomination.
