Tesla CEO Elon Musk said his estranged transgender daughter was "killed" by the "woke mind virus" after he was tricked into agreeing to gender-affirming care procedures.

In an interview with psychologist and conservative commentator Dr. Jordan Peterson, the X owner called gender-reassignment surgery "child mutilation and sterilization." He then discussed his 20-year-old child Vivian Jenna Wilson, who he said underwent the procedures during the pandemic.

"I was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of my older boys," Musk told Peterson in a Daily Wire interview during which he referred to his child by their deadname. "This was really before I had any understanding of what was going on, and we had COVID going on, so there was a lot of confusion and I was told (Musk's child) might commit suicide."

Gender-reassignment surgeries are inhumane and should be illegal. How can it be legal to mutilate a child and call it "freedom" is beyond reprehensible and dangerous. It wasn’t explained to him that puberty blockers are actually just sterilization drugs.

Elon was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of his sons. He was told his son would commit suicide otherwise.

Vivian Musk is not dead. She is no longer Xavier and no longer identifies as male. She is an adult.

I have problems with the administration of strong drugs and surgical procedures to adolescents too yiung and not mature enough to fully participate in the life altering decisions being made for them, BUT that doesn’t mean I don’t know and acknowledge that gender dysphoria is a real, actual, thing that can afflict people and should be allowed to be treated (hopefully in young adulthood at its earliest) and corrected.

It seems like he "lost" his child long before she actually transitioned and if he does feel like his "son" has been killed, it is inevitable that he would seek out some abstract groups or concepts to blame rather than himself. That doesn't mean he's right though.

Ignorance is no excuse. This also sounds very much like when he agreed to buy Twitter only to later complain about things he could and should have found out about beforehand. Maybe too used to having everything handed to him on a plate that he can easily get caught out when it isn't.

I'm not going to pretend to know the best options for a person I don't know questioning their gender identity, but it does seem that Musk's child is in a much better place about it than he is. But then I'd suggest the core reason for so many of his relationship issues is the fact that he doesn't (to be fair, maybe can't) care about anyone other than himself.

Ok… let’s try to understand. Musk isn’t right in this but it’s not difficult, with some empathy, to see pain as a source for mistaken action.

If it’s actual gender dysphoria, which what we can know about it from this distance, seems to be the case it’s no one’a fault, including Musk’s.

Attempting to identify something or someone though can give reason to a life, though mistaken, to carry on. In these cases though the biggest mistake is no one was actually lost to grieve. That’s so sad.

It's not just about his failure to accept his child, it is talking about it like this in public.

Elon is a terrible father. A good father would say "i'm not going to discuss my children."
 
Vivian is alive and well. She cut ties with her father in 2022.

This post and Musk’s assertion says more about the relationship MUSK has with his own family than anything about “woke”.

Then again, narcissists are unable to see their own role in the negative circumstances in their lives. It’s almost as though it’s a trait of being a narcissist.

The interviewer didn't ask Musk if the child is happy with the change.

Yes, the parent is unhappy about it, but how the child feels about it what really matters.

Right?

I'm not without sympathy for Musk, especially since I suspect many of his relationship problems, this included, will be significantly impacted by his neurodiversity. I have zero sympathy for people like the OP and the promoters of the video, who use this (essentially, use Musk and his daughter) as a tool to promote their own socio-political opinions.
